Talk me into my husband's faves

Ok, so there are a few names that we both like, but there are also a bunch that he likes and I don't. I didn't include any that I totally hate in this list, so these are just the ones that he likes and I don't care for. Please talk me into them! I'd like to find at least a couple here that I don't mind anymore.

Deirdre
Diane
Darla
Dakota
Danielle
Demelza
Dot

I'm not talking you into any of them, they are all pretty awful. Daphne is ok at a push but not the others.

Why does it need to begin with D?

TildaTurnip · 05/12/2020 08:54

This is the 5th thread and lots of questions raised by posters. I think Dominique is the worst of all names you’ve mentioned across the threads but I don’t like any of them. Is the D completely set in stone?

Delilah is nicest.

HollyandIvyandallthingsYule · 05/12/2020 08:55

Yeah a bit odd with all the threads tbh. Makes me wonder...

Tigger03 · 05/12/2020 08:56

Every time I hear Darla, it’s in a strong Australian accent and a fish killer (finding nemo)

SpudulikaSlob · 05/12/2020 08:57

Delphine is beautiful but thanks to Peppa Pig is also a Donkey.

I had no idea, my children don't watch Peppa Pig, we're a Duggee household Grin

springy0c · 05/12/2020 09:06

Dette
Darcy
Deborah
Dinah

Lobsterquadrille2 · 05/12/2020 09:10

Desdemona is a D name. I haven't read your other threads.

LynetteScavo · 05/12/2020 09:14

Just insist on Doris. I think it's due a revival.

justilou1 · 05/12/2020 09:55

I’m an Aussie and I can honestly say that I have NEVER met a Darla.

BeingATwatItsABingThing · 05/12/2020 16:30

Darla just makes me think Finding Nemo.

ImaSababa · 05/12/2020 16:34

You can't name a baby Diane!

WitchesBritchesPumpkinPants · 05/12/2020 16:42

Dear God

WHY are you wanting to be talked into one of those few names to call your daughter for life?

It's not wallpaper.

Beamur · 05/12/2020 16:46

Daphne (or Dafny like the actress in Dark Materials)
Diane - beautiful, classy name. Probably my favourite of your list.
Dot/Dotty - better as a NN, not good as a name by itself.
The rest I don't like.

Doilooklikeatourist · 05/12/2020 16:47

To be honest I don't really like any of them
I'd suggest
Diana
Daphne
Delphine
Dorothy ( Dot )

wizzler · 05/12/2020 20:09

Was Darla in Little Rascals? ... with all the sophistication of a woman of twelve?

mathanxiety · 05/12/2020 21:46

That's what I want to know too, @WitchesBritchesPumpkinPants

AugustL · 06/12/2020 03:25

Dot is cute and good all life through, suits all ages.
Darla is ok
Danielle is ok, quite nice actually
Diana I can imagine for a child/young woman more than Diane

DramaAlpaca · 06/12/2020 03:55

You don't need talking into a name. You need to agree on a name you both like.

MercyBodle · 06/12/2020 11:40

I love Demelza.

Change Diane to Diana and that would be a great name.
Change Danielle to Daniela and that would be a good name.
Dorothy or Dorothea with nickname Dot is good.

Diane, Dakota, Danielle are really bad.

lljkk · 06/12/2020 11:44

Why don't you like them, OP?

HeadPain · 07/12/2020 01:17

I like Dorothy /Dot 💜

rebecca102 · 07/12/2020 01:25

@justilou1 😂

AleynEivlys · 07/12/2020 01:58

How about ...

Della
Delta
Deanna
Dana
Dolly
Dinah?

Basically anything other than what is on that list ...

VenusClapTrap · 07/12/2020 23:22

I secretly love Deirdre.

SingHallelujah · 07/12/2020 23:34

Dreary Deidre.

His name choices are awful.

Back to the drawing board.
