I love Alana (love the meaning) and Callie

Peachbubble · 04/12/2020 19:33

I'd choose Callie.

Fivemoreminutes1 · 04/12/2020 19:46

How about Cassia - it’s similar to both Callie and Isla

ZooKeeper123 · 04/12/2020 20:15

@Marlena1 thank you - I absolutely love Alana too but my hubby says it’s just Alan with an a on the end 🤦🏼‍♀️🤣

@Peachbubble Callie is probably my second favourite at the moment.... the problem is the middle name we are using ends in an ie/y sound too and don’t know if that would be too much?! X

@Fivemoreminutes1 oo I like it- but not sure if I love it?! I’ll put it to the hubby though as to be honest I’m not sure what I like anymore 🤣 x

Firebird83 · 04/12/2020 20:17

Callie or Connie

Firebird83 · 04/12/2020 20:18

How about Calla or Callia? Might flow better with the middle name.

MikeUniformMike · 04/12/2020 20:19

Madison - surname. dated
Alana - is it Alan-a or Al-anna or Al-ah-na?
Callie - ok short for Caroline.prefer the spelling Cally
Connie - better short for Constance
Isla - only ok if your surname is White
Seren - don't like

RaeburnPlace · 04/12/2020 20:22

Like Callie and Connie but more as a shortened version - would you give them the full name...Carolyn/Caroline, Callista or Constance.

Also like
Celine
Ida
Dora

ZooKeeper123 · 04/12/2020 20:40

@MikeUniformMike as in al-ah-na .....but I know people pronounce it differently dependant on where they come from 🤦🏼‍♀️

OP posts:
ZooKeeper123 · 04/12/2020 20:42

@RaeburnPlace no I’d probably just call them the actual shortened name ... I know that’s unusual but I also have a Lottie who isn’t Charlotte ...

Ooo I think I love Ida ❤️

Alana and Callie are my favourites, although I prefer Carrie to Callie.

SOboredofcleaning · 04/12/2020 20:45

Love Seren.

MercyBodle · 04/12/2020 22:10

I like Seren, the only name on your list that appeals to me.

Madison is dated and over-used. Stick to the traditional Madeleine if you like the Mad sound. Isla is over-used. Callie is okay as nn for Caroline or something else.

Nell96 · 04/12/2020 22:45

They're quite different names in terms of sound and style:

Madison - Dislike
Alana - Sounds quite dated to me
Callie - Ok as a nn - prefer Calla
Connie - quite like
Isla - pretty but very popular at the moment
Seren - like, but getting very popular in Wales - possibly a bit twee sounding?

Other suggestions -

Trudy
Florence
Iris
Ivy
Iona
Camille
Camilla
Serena
Selena
Celeste
Amara
Anya
Athena
Cara
Calina
Corinna
Madeleine
Matilda

Alana is beautiful, and underused in the UK - and I personally think of it as a very different name to Alan since it's pronounced so differently: "ah - lar - nah" , it's closer to the classic film star name Lana to me.

I also like pretty Seren (although it's been fairly popular/ a bit trendy here in Wales - but this obviously isn't a problem if you live elsewhere).

I like Callie but prefer as a nickname (for Caroline/a, Camille/a, Calista etc), it seems a bit insubstantial on it's own. However since you have a Lottie, they fit really well together as a sibset.

Not keen on any of the others - Isla is trendy and overused, Madison is a bit tacky (surname/film mermaid), Connie is a not that nice nickname to me.

Other "nickname" names - that work well in their own right to me and would sound nice with Lottie: Cassie, Tess, May, Annie, Polly, Gwen, Nell, Edie.

MikeUniformMike · 05/12/2020 09:12

@ZooKeeper123, Alannah would be a better spelling.

HeadPain · 06/12/2020 18:38

Madison - dislike
Alana - like
Callie - dislike
Connie -ok
Isla - like
Seren - like
