Which do you prefer of these 2 names? If you could give a reason why that'd be great. Not too bothered about popularity.
Thanks 😊

I prefer Matilda out of the 2.
Reason being, Isabel can be spelt in lots of different ways and I feel people won't listen and get it wrong.

Isabel but I’m biased. Also prefer it spelt Isabelle, all the other ways don’t look right to me.
I love the nn Tilly but absolutely hate the name Matilda, it’s quite popular where I am though and seems to be a name for horrible spoilt little girls so maybe that’s why I’m not a fan

Isabel has a nicer sound to me - elegant and feminine and feels classic since it always been fairly well used. So I'd chose it even though it's currently popular and has spelling issues.

Matilda is one of those names I want to love - it's a strong name with a wonderful history and namesakes. But I'm just not as keen on the sound of it and it does go in and out of fashion.

I love both names, prefer Matilda but Isabelle is lovely too. I prefer NN Tilly/Tilda to NN Izzy

Like both but both too poopular at the moment. Mathilda or Matilda is my prefered choice.

I like Isobel and Mathilde

Out of yours then Isabel bit much prefer the “o” Grin

emilybrontescorsett · 03/12/2020 21:51

Isabel.
It's such a beautiful classic name.
Matilda is too fashionable for me. I really dont like the Mathilda spelling as I just think Hilda which is awful. Reminds me of Hilda Ogden from Coronation Street.

Baffledma · 04/12/2020 14:08

Isabel

Prefer Isobel but Isabel over Matilda.

Just always think of the book/film,..not that it's a bad thing just can't picture anyone else with the name that's all
It is a very pretty name

BucksFizzForBreakfast · 04/12/2020 16:35

Oh I really like both! I've had both on my girls shortlist. I think I just about prefer Isabel but it's a tough call.

BucksFizzForBreakfast · 04/12/2020 16:37

Oh reason - I don't know if I'm keen on Mattie as a nn with Matilda, which is the only negative (but maybe Tilly is the typical shortened form? Or you could just not shorten!).

CatRamsey · 04/12/2020 16:43

Matilda. Isabel is just a bit boring to me.
