I think I love this name with the nickname Tilly.

Do other people share the love for Matilda?

I really like Matilda but not a fan of Tilly at all

IHaveBrilloHair · 02/12/2020 21:36

Second Matilda thread I've seen today!
I love it, one of my cats is Matilda.

KormaKormaChameleon · 02/12/2020 21:39

Love Matilda (the meaning is great! Mighty battle maiden or something like that), but not a fan of Tilly.

Birdcloud · 02/12/2020 21:50

I love the name too, but I’d go for Mattie as a shortened form.

pilates · 02/12/2020 21:53

Love it, not so keen on Tilly

Growingyou · 02/12/2020 21:57

I know a very adventurous and very sweet 6 year old Matilda. Her parents have always called her Matilda or Tilly, but she's recently started called herself/introducing herself as Tilda.

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 02/12/2020 21:58

Love Matilda. I'd use Matilda or Tilda though.

Brighterthansunflowers · 02/12/2020 22:02

Love it

missmouse101 · 02/12/2020 22:03

No. I really dislike it. It's a very frumpy name.

mushforbrain · 02/12/2020 22:06

My 6 year old niece is called Matilda. We all mainly call her Tilda (not because we don’t like Matilda!) She is ANYTHING but frumpy! I love it as a name I think it’s very sweet.

Nell96 · 02/12/2020 22:20

Not keen on Tilly, but quite like Matilda - good strong name.

Katnissx · 02/12/2020 22:24

Love it- it's our second choice if we had two girls. I like Mattie and Tilly as NN X

DramaAlpaca · 02/12/2020 22:33

I love both Matilda and Tilly.

abigailthespiderinthehat · 02/12/2020 22:38

Not keen on Matilda but I absolutely love Tilly

Firebird83 · 03/12/2020 00:22

I really like Matilda but not Tilly.

Butterormarg · 03/12/2020 05:58

Tilda makes me think of the brand of rice. I think Tilly is sweet for a little girl.

Matilda is a beautiful choice, with NN Tilly. As PP have mentioned, she might choose to be a Tilda or get nicknamed that from classmates, she might also get Mattie.

ILoveStickers · 03/12/2020 11:27

Love Matilda, but I don't like Tilly. I'd call her Matilda, or Matty.

ShowOfHands · 03/12/2020 11:32

I have a Mathilda and she is called Tilda by 95% of people. Online she calls herself Mattie FakeSurname (to protect her identity when posting artwork, she's only 13). I call her Bugger Lugs or Tank (WW1 infantry tank called Matilda due to the "mighty in battle" meaning).

It's a fine name with many nicknames. I don't like Tilly though.

strawberriesunited · 03/12/2020 11:35

I'm calling next DD matilda! Love it

MUMZA20 · 03/12/2020 15:48

Adorable! Yes!

VenusClapTrap · 03/12/2020 16:46

It’s a no from me because there are so many of them, it’s become very dull. Whenever dd mentions Tilly I answer ‘which one?’ because we know five.

CorpusCallosum · 03/12/2020 17:45

Matilda and Tilda are nice. Tilly is a name for a pet 😣
