Expecting a baby boy.. please help me (teachers/nursery workers) what boy names to avoid as “too popular”...

I am aware of the usually Jack, Harry, George...

Im not a teacher but out and about I'm hearing lots of
Theos
Logan
Gabriel
Arthur
George.
Alfie.
Mind you keep in mind these are older kids. Theyre not going to be in the same year as your little one.

Archie definitely the most popular. Also Alfie, Freddie, James, Charlie, Ted, Reuben, Oliver, Finley seem to be popular in the nursery I work in.

Thefaceofboe · 02/12/2020 21:33

Also Arthur!

Takethewinefromtheswine · 02/12/2020 21:39

Haven't come across a Jack in a while.
Lots of 'ie' names, Alfie, Archie, Freddie, Ronnie etc. Lots of Arthur, Henry, Arlo, Milo, Felix. LOTS of children called Noah. This year, I also have several called Ayaan.

3 Edward James (Ted or Teddy for short) born within 6 months of one another. Love the name Edward but no one seems to actually use it.

My DS is nursery age and in his class there are multiple children named Theo, Teddy, Max, Finn/Finley, Jude, Oscar and Albie

Firebird83 · 03/12/2020 00:21

Oh and definitely Arlo as well.

YerAWizardHarry · 03/12/2020 00:29

Teach in P1 just now, only names with doubles in our 100 child year are Mason, Riley and Robbie

DontFadeAway · 03/12/2020 10:11

Theo
Finlay
Logan

CeibaTree · 03/12/2020 19:38

There are 5 Olivers in my son's nursery class, and a couple of Arthurs.

PlantPotting · 03/12/2020 19:40

If you don't want anything too popular just get a list of the top 100 names and avoid every name on it and also be sure to avoid very similar variants of popular names

There's loads of nice normal names that are outside the top 100

Laurence
Peter
Patrick
Tristan
Seth
Eric
Nathan

SaffieSoph · 03/12/2020 20:39

I know loads of Teddy and Theo’s. I hear fin, Noah, Alfie and Archie a lot!

YerAWizardHarry · 04/12/2020 00:33

@CeibaTree its weird, I've got an Oliver and I KNOW the statistics say its popular but my son is the only one in his year and I've never had more than one Oliver in my classes before either. I think Ollie/Oli/Olly is actually more common round here
