Our first born is Louis, these are the ones I like:

  • Alfred
  • Arthur
  • Levi
  • Henry
  • Wilfried
  • Elijah

What do you think?

I feel like Louis is regal and I would follow a theme if it was me so with that in mind, I would go for Alfred, Arthur or Henry. However Wilfred would work too.

MikeUniformMike · 02/12/2020 15:14

Louis and Levi are too matchy matchy but quite different.

Arthur and Henry are both good. Is it Wilfrid or Wilfred? I quite like Wilf but royal baby and pm baby?

ThirdTimeLuckyIHope · 02/12/2020 15:15

I really like Arthur and Alfred

JemimaTiggywinkle · 02/12/2020 15:15

My favourites are Alfred, Arthur and Henry.

Louis and Levi are quite matchy - don’t know if that’s a negative or positive for you.

GreenEyedDevil · 02/12/2020 15:17

I like Alfred, Arthur and Elijah

Fivemoreminutes1 · 02/12/2020 15:20

Louis and Elijah is a mouthful!

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 02/12/2020 15:24

Although I don’t like the name, out of your list and to go with Louis say I’d say go with Arthur. That’s assuming that you want the names to match.

On personal opinion i quite like Elijah.
I can’t abide Wilfred or Alfred.
Levi just screams Belfield(sp)

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 02/12/2020 15:25

Again like Arthur I don’t like it, but Henry would be good with Louis

Whatsyourflava · 02/12/2020 15:32

LOVE Wilfred and Arthur

Think they sound perfect with Louis

Elijah is nice but prefer Eli and Ellis

frolicmum · 02/12/2020 15:45

Louis' middle name is Theodore, I now wish I hadn't called him that as that would otherwise be an option.

It seems like Arthur, Henry, Alfred and Wilfried are the front runners here - all those names need to work in German and Wilfred wouldn't where as Wilfried would. I love all of them (I did think we're having a girl, so had all the girl names picked out and then had to get all the boys names out again!)

I hear you all about Levi, just thought L&L is cute in a way but yes too matchy matchy & yes I now agree, Elijah and Louis don't really work.

I’d assumed Wilfried was a typo.. how is it pronounced? If it’s Wil-freed then I would avoid as it will constantly be misspelled and mispronounced if you are in the UK.

finallychangedmyusername · 02/12/2020 20:44

Louis and Arthur is perfect.

Louis Theodore and Arthur William would work brilliantly.

frolicmum · 02/12/2020 21:05

@JemimaTiggywinkle you're right, I thought the Brits might know because of the football but maybe only in this house as DH + his entire family are Crystal Palace supporters haha

@finallychangedmyusername I have to say - I love it!!!

Arthur William would be perfect. Not Levi, for reasons stated above. And two children with the same initial means huge problems later on when post arrives using only the first initial, and you have two young men who are both Mr L ***.

I hate the name Alfred, reminds me of a very horrible person I knew, and Alfie is to my mind a dog's name. Wilfried would always be misspelled as Wilfred or Wilfred, and again as already said, there's a young royal Louis and a young PM's son Wilfred. Doesn't work.

Henry is nice but two names ending in the "ee" sound is a bit twee.

DramaAlpaca · 02/12/2020 22:32

With Louis I'd choose Henry or Arthur.

TheVanguardSix · 02/12/2020 22:35

I like Arthur.
I also like Henry.
Frederick works well.
Otto too.

MercyBodle · 02/12/2020 23:42

I'd narrow it down to Alfred, Arthur, Henry and Wilfried.

I dislike Levi and Elijah, and they're a different style to Louis, and they are trendier, less traditional than the others.

Wilfried and Alfred are my favourites.

Calmondeck · 03/12/2020 07:27

I love Arthur but also adore Theodore. Louis and Theodore sounds great together. I’m not sure whether 2nd names are heard more in Germany, but certainly in the UK you hardly ever know a person’s 2nd name. I think I’d you love Theo, just go for it.

Magicbabywaves · 03/12/2020 07:42

I’ve got nephews called Louis and Alfred, so Alfred!

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 03/12/2020 15:05

Louis and Henry would make a gorgeous sibset - very kingly and classical, both with European origins.

Alfred and Arthur would be also work okay - the same traditional, regal style (I just don't like them quite as much as Henry and they seem very "English" sounding compared to Louis/Henry).

Wilfried will be likely be constantly misspelt in the UK (as Wilfred is much better known), and Levi and Elijah seem a different style (very biblical) to Louis.

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 03/12/2020 15:08

Sorry, should have checked before posting - should be "would also work okay" and "will likely be" !

MUMZA20 · 03/12/2020 15:44

Louis & Henry!
