Elizabeth - DH's favourite name (bit stuffy imo)
Sophie- i like, DH thinks it's boring
Elsie - both like but lots of people don't
Matilda - I did use to like but gone off a bit
Florence - i like, DH hates
Eliza - used to like as a compromise to elizabeth but gone off
Lucy - i like - DH's mum has a dog with this name so he won't have it
Lucinda - not sure
Holly - i like, DH"s sister has a dog called Holly
Isabel - can't decide on this one
Felicity - not sure
Lily - both like but quite popular
Ruby - DH loves I'm not sure, I've taught a couple of Ruby's
Victoria - DH likes but I don't

Which is your favourite/least favourite?
Thanks

Elizabeth
So many lovely nicknames options and so classic too
Not stuffy at all

Whatsyourflava · 29/11/2020 11:37

I like Holly and Felicity too

user1493494961 · 29/11/2020 11:42

A lovely list, I think I would choose Matilda, Florence or Eliza.

Pudding01 · 29/11/2020 11:53

Easier to say which i don't like: Victoria, Lucinda, Matilda and Eliza.

Quite like Elizabeth as a middle name... Lucy Elizabeth
Holly Elizabeth
Ruby Elizabeth
Sophie Elizabeth

I like the name Elsie, but I'd have a stronger middle name to balance it out.

If either of you hate a name, I'd rule it out.

I get the dog situation, but in the nicest way possible, they aren't going to be around forever, so don't let it put you off a name you both like 😊

17caterpillars1mouse · 29/11/2020 12:03

My favourites on your list are Lucy and Florence though if your husband hates Florence it's out.

I quite like Ruby too

BucksFizzForBreakfast · 29/11/2020 12:06

I love Elizabeth! Such a versatile name yet timeless/classic imo. Discounting all the ones that one of you dislikes/isn't sure about, seems as though it's between Elsie and Lily. Personally I prefer Lily - very pretty.

IncludeWomenInTheSequel · 29/11/2020 12:07

I like Eliza.

How about Elise or Eloise?

Lollypop4 · 29/11/2020 12:09

Elsie.
It is quite popular where I live but so is Ruby and Lily.
I have friends or know kids all with your chosen names.
Elsir, Ruby and Lily spund nice with Elizabth as middle name

Peachbubble · 29/11/2020 12:47

Sophie is my favourite. Quite like Matilda, Eliza, Lucy and Felicity. Not keen on the others.

DramaAlpaca · 29/11/2020 13:33

Whittle it down by taking off all the names one of you doesn't like.

From your many threads it's fairly clear what the best compromise is: Elizabeth (his favourite) on the birth certificate and Elsie (which you both like) as the diminutive. Job done.

Btw, it doesn't matter what anyone else thinks of the name. All that counts is that you both love it.

Whatthebloodyell · 29/11/2020 13:36

Well, you both like Elsie , so choose Elsie.

Masssivefuckup · 29/11/2020 13:46

What DramaAlpaca said.

Nell96 · 29/11/2020 13:53

Go for Lily - beautiful, classic name and you both like it. I wouldn't say it's too popular, not compared to Isabel, Sophie and variations. Not keen on Elsie, find it a bit twee. I like Florence and Lucy (don't see the dog thing as a particular issue - it's not your dog). I dislike Victoria, Holly, Felicity and Lucinda. The others are fine.

StellaOlivetti · 29/11/2020 14:53

Elizabeth is perfect to me, classic (not stuffy) elegant and timeless. Lovely shortenings for children, lots of options. I like most of your list apart from Ruby and Elsie. I find them a little clunky to the ear which is strange as I love granny chic names.

MikeUniformMike · 29/11/2020 14:58

Elizabeth - timeless
Sophie- i like
Elsie - don't like
Matilda - overused
Florence - ok, not keen on Flo/Flossie
Eliza -prefer Elizabeth
Lucy - i like
Lucinda - Lucy is so much nicer. not keen
Holly - ok bu a bit christmassy. Polly or Mollie?
Isabel - overused (with Isabella and Isabelle/Isobel), and I don't like Izzy
Felicity - too long
Lily - fine but overused. Don't like Lil. Susan or Susanna(h) have the same meaning
Ruby - not keen
Victoria - timeless

I think I'd go for Victoria or Elizabeth.

CakeRattleandRoll · 29/11/2020 16:35

You only really have a choice between the names you both like - Elsie and Lucy.

Or how about Elspeth (Scottish form of Elizabeth) nn Elsie?

Shireslass · 29/11/2020 16:39

I know a lovely Matilda who is also a Tilly. I think that is lovely.
Holly is a classic

Mammyloveswine · 29/11/2020 16:45

Not Mega keen on any tbh!

What about Emily? Or Esme or Elodie?

I also love Clara, Sophia and Rosa.

NoSquirrels · 29/11/2020 16:50

Most of your list isn’t useful because your DH or you dislike the name. So really your list is:

Elsie - both like but lots of people don't
Matilda - I did use to like but gone off a bit
Eliza - used to like as a compromise to elizabeth but gone off
Lucinda - not sure
Isabel - can't decide on this one
Felicity - not sure
Lily - both like but quite popular
Ruby - DH loves I'm not sure, I've taught a couple of Ruby's

There’s none you love except Lily. Which is classic and lovely. Or Elsie (stuff ‘other people’)

You might consider:

Iris
Elise
Eloise
Bethan

NoSquirrels · 29/11/2020 16:51

Go for Elizabeth nn Elsie?

Lozz22 · 29/11/2020 16:55

Sophie Elizabeth

Lancelottie · 29/11/2020 16:58

Try Verity?

Shayisgreat · 29/11/2020 17:17

I like Elizabeth, Sophie, Holly, and Isabel. Holly is my favourite.

I don't like Felicity, Victoria, Lucinda, or Elsie.

RuthW · 29/11/2020 17:26

Love Elizabeth, Victoria, Eliza, Florence and Felicity.

I don't like the others.

My fav is Elizabeth.

finallychangedmyusername · 29/11/2020 17:45

Elizabeth would nickname to both Elsie and Lily.

Other suggestions in a similar style:

Alexandra (Allie/Andra/Alex/Alexa/Xan - do many options)
Madeleine
Louisa if you like Lucinda and Lucy
Charlotte
Emily
Flora
Mary (could nickname Polly or Molly)
