I've looked at so many names it's starting to drive me loopy.
Can you please let me know what you think or add any other suggestions
For a girl we like Ivy or Violet I also quite like Annabelle although not sure which is the best spelling
For a boy we like Toby or Stanley
Thanks 😊

Update: apparently my OH has gone off Annabelle so it's no longer an option 🙄

I love all of your names apart from Annabelle.

emilybrontescorsett · 18/11/2020 22:16

I liked Annabelle best from your list. The other 2 are very similar so I would choose the one which goes best with your Suriname and make sure the initials don't spell something rude.
Toby and s much nicer than Stanley. Tobias is even better than Toby.

TheDaydreamBelievers · 18/11/2020 22:20

I love your names, apart from Annabelle too!

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 18/11/2020 22:49

Of your boys choices I much prefer Toby (although I like the classic full name Tobias more, it gives him options as an adult).

Of the girls, I liked Annabel best - but since that's not an option now, I like Violet better of the two (although again I must admit I much prefer the classic Shakespearean Viola, and it looks less like the word Violent).

I think Ivy and Stanley might date badly as they have become very trendy/popular over the last few years (and to be honest they still sound very old-fashioned to me, sorry).

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 18/11/2020 22:57

If you like old/vintage style names I personally like the sound of Ada, Sylvia, Flora, Clara, Rosamund, Rosalind, Sybil, Mary, Florence and Evelyn for girls and Wilfred, Arthur, Raymond, Alfred, Edmund, Frederick, Edgar, Bertram and Abraham for boys.

PenguinErector · 18/11/2020 22:57

How about:
Abigail
Bethany
Harriet
Francesca
Erica

Thomas
Anthony
Jacob

Ivy is very popular and of the moment... and Violet is a bit too close to violent for me.

I love Iris though, which has a similar feel?

Toby and Stanley are fine... probably prefer Toby as it's less trendy. Joel? Robin? Ernest nn Ernie?

FluffyEggsontoast · 19/11/2020 07:36

I love Ivy and Violet

How about

Verity
Jemima
Clementine
Cora
Edith or Edie
Margot
Delilah
Martha

cloverbug · 19/11/2020 09:17

Ivy is a favourite of mine!
I really cannot stand Violet though, to me it sounds like Violent. I also love Annabelle but I think the movie ruins it a bit.

Some suggestions:
Belle
Adriana
Indie
Olive
Iris
Arabel
Julianna
Juliette
Vienna

cloverbug · 19/11/2020 09:18

I'd vote Stanley for a boy!Smile

ThirdTimeLuckyIHope · 19/11/2020 11:04

Thanks everyone I'll read them to my OH and see what he thinks 🙂

PabloHoneyBee · 19/11/2020 15:26

I like Toby and Annabel best. If definitely not Annabel, then Violet.

Ivy is cute, but quite popular at the moment. Stanley isn't really to my taste, but it isn't terrible.

How about:

Arabella
Delilah

Ezra
Kit (short for Christopher or Christian)

ThirdTimeLuckyIHope · 19/11/2020 15:29

Thanks I like so many more girls names than boys names so what's the chances I'll have a boy lol I put a scan pick on a different thread and boy is currently winning 6-1 based on nub theory 😅😂😂

OP posts:
FluffyEggsontoast · 19/11/2020 15:40

What gestation is the scan @ThirdTimeLuckyIHope, the closer to 13 weeks you get the more reliable. If it's 12 weeks exactly for example nub theory doesn't really work

For boys how about Laurence
Sidney
Miles or Milo
Dylan
Hugo
Tristan
Wilfred

LemonsYellow · 19/11/2020 16:18

I like Annabel - that spelling - most.
Not keen on Ivy or Violet.

Toby is nice. Not keen on Stanley.

ThirdTimeLuckyIHope · 19/11/2020 16:24

@FluffyEggsontoast oh I didn't know that the pic was 12+2 so maybe not very helpful

Thanks for your suggestions I like Hugo

CatbearAmo · 19/11/2020 16:50

I had a friend called Violette and I think that's a really pretty version of the name. If you like Ivy you might like Iris.

IckleBear · 19/11/2020 17:16

Maeve
Lucille
Alessia

Standrewsschool · 19/11/2020 17:34

Annabel was my favourite from your list,

Other names:
Vivienne
Daisy
Georgina
Jasmine

Reuben
Edward
Robert
Rupert

FluffyEggsontoast · 19/11/2020 18:10

@ThirdTimeLuckyIHope the best group I've found for nubs is the Facebook group called 'gender prediction nub theory'. Post your scan there. The mods in that group are amazing and it's free of course. If it's a clear nub they'll be able to tell you

Nell96 · 19/11/2020 18:31

Violet is beautiful, though I think I may prefer Viola. Ivy is also lovely. The spelling I would choose is Annabel, which looks much less frilly. Iris is one of my favourites. Anya is also pretty.

Toby is awful - feels quite wet / young Conservative to me. Stanley is better, but not keen, feels a bit 'old man'. How about:

Colby
Thomas / Tom / Tommy
Reuben
Frederick / Wilfred / Fred / Freddie
William / Billy
Leonard / Lenny
Albert / Albie
