Does Lucinda match brother William?
I would like to use Lucy but DH won't.

It matches well.

thebuntingcat · 15/11/2020 17:36

It goes very well.

RomillyTheRabbit · 15/11/2020 18:09

Yes, I think they match well Smile.

Ellen35 · 15/11/2020 18:13

Thank you. And what do you think of the name?

TildaTurnip · 15/11/2020 18:14

I really like it. I know two in their 30s, one goes by her full name and the other by Luci.

Nell96 · 15/11/2020 20:53

Not keen, sorry - I feel like it has a bit of an 80s vibe. Lucy is a beautiful name - it's a classic. There's also Lucille or Lucia.

GroundAlmonds · 15/11/2020 20:55

Beautiful and classic.

Abracadabra12345 · 15/11/2020 20:57

Love it. A really elegant name and she may well be shortened to Luci so you’ll get your wish too

porridgepamela · 15/11/2020 20:57

I’ve known one - she’ll be mid-30s now. She was always known as Lucinda, never Lucy. I like the name but would probably end up shortening it to Lucy

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 15/11/2020 23:31

I quite like it (although my favorite of the "loo/lu" names for girls is Louisa). I personally prefer the sound of it over Lucy, which although very classic is fairly popular and sounds a bit cute/sweet to me. You don't hear of many Lucinda's so it would be quite refreshing, and it works well with William. Just don't let anyone shorten it to Cindy (much too dated!).

MercyBodle · 16/11/2020 00:25

Yes, matches perfectly. Lovely name and you can still call her Lucy for short.

Ellen35 · 16/11/2020 06:28

Thanks for the replies. Half brother is called Stanley which i don't think matches as well as a sibset?

joystir59 · 16/11/2020 06:40

Lucinda william Stanley all good I think. Hope she doesn't end up being called Cindy though.

Orphlids · 16/11/2020 06:41

I know a Lucinda, who flits between being known by her full name, and Lucy. Every time I refer to her by her full name, I feel a bit excited - I enjoy saying it. It’s unusual, but established. Feels like it comes from another era. Very nice.

For me, it’s irrelevant whether it “goes” with a sibling’s name.

MimiDaisy11 · 16/11/2020 08:32

Yes, they go. I really like it as a name. Also, you have two potential nicknames which are cute: Lucy and Cindy. It was one of my favourites but sadly my partner vetoed any of the names which could have the nickname Lucy.

VenusClapTrap · 16/11/2020 12:53

I know a young adult who is always Lucinda, never Lucy. Nice name.

I don’t think it matters at all whether sibling names ‘match’ personally. They are individuals.

Whattodotho · 16/11/2020 13:21

My names Lucinda. I never get called Lucy but get called Cin for short. Honestly I like having a different name but hate introducing myself as feels like a mouthful and awkard to say but that's just me.

CuppaZa · 16/11/2020 13:24

Love Lucy, not keen on Lucinda at all. Lucy is pretty and classic. Lucinda is pretentious and not pretty

cloverbug · 16/11/2020 14:18

I think it goes well with William and Stanley! It's not really my taste but it's definitely not a bad name. I personally prefer Lucia or Luciana but I don't think they'd match as well.

SionnachRua · 16/11/2020 14:20

I know a Lucinda who goes by Lulu. I'm not a Lulu or Cindy fan (or Lucy either, very wet imo) so would avoid it myself - nothing wrong with those nicknames per se but don't use it if you don't like the associated nicknames.

HPLikecraft · 16/11/2020 17:22

I like it, and I think it goes well with William.

I've known two Lucindas; one was called Cindi and the other, Lulu.

YoniAndGuy · 16/11/2020 17:30

I like it! Gosh, haven't heard that one for AGES.

I agree that it's a slightly more grown-up answer to Lucy, which although lovely, is a bit pigtails. Lulu as a nn is fab.

confusedpombear · 16/11/2020 17:33

I know siblings that are William and Lucinda - both lovely names :)

percheron67 · 16/11/2020 17:35

Beautiful name. I wanted it for my daughter but (silly) husband didn't agree.

ThinkAboutItTomorrow · 16/11/2020 18:22

I work with one. She's horrible.
