Popularity doesn't come into it...

Felicity Alice- what if your child has a bad lisp?

Felicity Anna is nicer and can be Flic for a cool nickname.

I personally think popularity does matter as like PPs have said you can never just say the first name, you have to give them a description too! Or they are known by Ava G, Ava P etc.
Although that was ok until we had 2 boys with the same first name and first 3 letters of their last names also the same! And in the same class.

I forgot to say we also have loads and loads of Dylans and Callums. There must be 2 or 3 Dylans in every year group here,
Jacob is another one there are lots of, can’t remember if I said that name in my first post.

Seriously, is Theo that popular now?! My teenage DS is Theo and I'm also a secondary teacher - I've never taught another Theo and he has always been the only one in his entire school.

MondeoFan · 17/11/2020 20:17

No Evie/Ava/Grace/Amelia or Isla much too popular

No Jack/William/Joseph/Harry or George

Apart from those you're good to go

In my workplace we have some not so popular names -

Martha, Myla, Connie, Sarah, Genevieve

And

Grayson, Kiaan, Jasper, Tzion, Ruben and Artemis

I think I can guess what your surname is.

How about Jade? Smile

Around here, the most overused girls’ names are probably Evie/Eve/Evelyn/Eva. There are also plenty of Amelias, Islas and Izzys.

For both boys and girls, there seems to be a bit of a trend for names beginning with one of the following letters: A, E, F, I O R. I’ve never met a Felicity, though.

I guessed it could be Gray/Grey or Green/Greene...

You’re right. It could be any of those.

When ds went to school there were two boys in his class (of a total of 14 boys) with the same name which wasn't even in the top 200 at the time (it's a lot more popular now). In the entire school there was only one Jack and one Oliver (the most popular boys names of that year). Now in secondary school he has no Jacks and no Olivers in his year but several boys called Finn, Ross, Noah and Felix - only Noah was in the top 100 that year and not very high.
My point is that you just can't predict which names will happen to be popular where you live and in your child's school.
My daughter has a popular name (not top 30 not not far outside the year she was born) - when we looked round the primary school the head teacher rolled his eyes and said "another one?!".
She's never had another one in her year group.

What about Isabel Alexandra?

Popular ones around here, NW are:

Girls:
Isla
Mia
Ella
Lily
Amelia
Olivia

Boys:
Oliver
Arthur
Lucas
Riley
Finley

Dd has a few doubles in her class of 30.

Mia
Isabella
Millie
Finn
Ronnie
Jack
Tom/Tommy

The class below ds (now mid-teens) had 6 bens, 3 finns. But no double for girls.

Ds class had no doubles. But 3 of his class mates had a younger sibling called Joseph.
They were all in the same class they would be about 12/1³ now?

RosieLemonade · 23/11/2020 20:39

10% of my year group is called Alfie. Lots of variations of Isabelle.

BadlyArrangedToasties · 24/11/2020 01:07

So many Sophies here! Evie, Amelia Millie also very common.

For boys: Finn, Finlay, Leo, Harry, Alfie

I’m in Yorkshire.
