Jane - ordinary but lovely and not used now. Jean?
Cassie - Not keen on
Acacia - Awful. Wasnt that where bananaman lived?

Owen is lovely.
Jonah is okay. (You will get whale gifts. )
Silas and Richard are awful.

HornbeamLane · 11/11/2020 02:59

@PineappleUpsideDownCake i agree with these comments I'm afraid

LocalHobo · 11/11/2020 03:15

Quite like Cassie but would use Casandra as the given name.
Love Silas. Jonah is ok and maybe Richard is due a comeback...

calimommy · 11/11/2020 04:19

Acacia is very unusual but not a particularly nice plant to be named after
Cassie is nice as a nn but perhaps with the option of Cassandra as the full name?
Jane is pretty but fairly basic.

Owen is fine
Jonah is nice
Silas is ok
Richard is fine -traditional

Cassie/Cassandra & Jonah are the nicest in your list I think 👍

HerRoyalNotness · 11/11/2020 04:25

Jonah is my favourite
Cassie short for Cassiopeia

Jane would be nice depending on MN. I don’t know many of them, but it’s a solid, nice name

garlictwist · 11/11/2020 05:24

I love Jane and Owen.

MercyBodle · 11/11/2020 05:40

I like all your girls' names. Jane is my favourite. I would use Cassie as a nickname for Acacia, but it is okay on its own too.

I only like Richard out of your boys' names. I prefer Jonas over Jonah.

lunalulu · 11/11/2020 06:39

Acacia - too Stepford Wives
Jane - no, although it's simplicity isn't without charm
Cassie - I'm not keen

Of the three I prefer Acacia.

Owen - no
Jonah - no way
Silas - no
(Jonah and Silas just have gloomy associations)
Richard - a good name and better than the rest, but I feel a bit dated and grown-up.

lunalulu · 11/11/2020 06:40

Its simplicity

(Auto-miscorrect on ...)

FippertyGibbett · 11/11/2020 06:43

Acacia - no
Jane -plain Jane, I prefer Jayne
Cassie - I like it. Prefer it to Cassandra.

Owen - lots of them about.
Jonah - ok I suppose
Silas - reminds me of silage
Richard - no

Twizbe · 11/11/2020 06:56

I really like Richard. It was very popular in the late 70s early 80s so I know a few adult ones (including my brother)

It would have been on my list and you just don't meet baby Richards anymore.

AuntieStella · 11/11/2020 07:14

Acacia - I don't think this works at all
Jane - like
Cassie - lovely

Owen - OK
Jonah - bit miserable
Silas - OK-ish
Richard - like

Chilldonaldchill · 11/11/2020 08:53

Acacia - not sure. It's a spiky plant! Plus I have a horrible feeling some people don't have heard of it and won't know how to say it
Jane - but popular certainly. But still boring in my view.
Cassie - I like it but prefer Cassia with Cassie as a nn

Owen - it's ok. I prefer Ewan. The Owens I know are all a bit annoying
Jonah - I like this. I prefer Jonas
Silas - I love this
Richard - I'm not keen. It feels middle aged

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 11/11/2020 08:54

Quite like Cassie and Silas

Whatsyourflava · 11/11/2020 08:57

I like Richard
Not keen on your other options, I think we have different tastes

Flappingflamingo · 11/11/2020 11:14

Acacia- sorry its hideous
Jane- love it, underused classic
Cassie- really like it

Owen- it's OK, not bad, not great
Jonah- character from Veep as well as obviously the whale, don't mind it
Silas- reminds me of silage for some reason, it's a no from me
Richard- could be due a comeback

Spied · 11/11/2020 11:20

Cassie and Owen are the only ones I like

Acacia is bananaman in my mind. It also looks ugly and sounds awful.
Jane is a classic but is just so boring to mind.

Richard is just so dated.
Silas sounds sinister to me.
Jonah a bit wet

Oneandabean · 11/11/2020 13:20

What about cassia, it’s a bit between acacia and Cassie.
I’m not a fan of the others sorry

user1493494961 · 11/11/2020 14:16

Dislike Acacia, Cassie is nice as a shortening for Cassia, I think Jane is a bit boring. Like Silas and Jonah, Owen is boring and I don't think Richard is due a comeback yet.

MikeUniformMike · 11/11/2020 14:35

Acacia - No
Jane - love
Cassie - ok

Owen - ok
Jonah - not keen
Silas - not keen
Richard - like a lot

ArmchairCritics · 11/11/2020 14:58

Acacia - no. Pronunciation issues, a lifetime of ‘what, like the plant?’ and ‘what, like from bananaman?’....
Jane - fine
Cassie - like this, either on its own or as a shortening for Cassia as suggested by PP - less keen on Cassandra or Cassiopeia

Owen - fine
Jonah - aside from the whale associations (if this bothers you, it may not...) also fine
Silas - dislike - I think it’s the sibilance, sounds kind of slimy and hissy.
Richard - fine

My favs are Cassie and Jonah

BurtonHouse · 11/11/2020 15:37

Cassie and Owen

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 11/11/2020 16:44
  1. Acacia - not that keen (sounds made up -even though it's a plant)
  2. Jane - Lovely traditional classic, and would be very unusual today
  3. Cassie - pretty but I like best as a nn for Cassia or maybe Cassandra

1.Owen - Very nice, not overused classic

  1. Jonah - Okay, quite American/Biblical
  2. Silas - Okay but a bit unusual, not sure about the harsh sound.
  3. Richard - Nice and traditional - like Jane it would be unusual today.
diplodocusinermine · 11/11/2020 17:15

Jane - so underused today - lovely, strong, serene
Richard - good strong name. Need to ensure if you go down the nickname route you use Rich or Rick.

nancywhisky · 11/11/2020 17:17

Jane.
Owen or Richard.
