Hi.

I am pregnant with our (definitely) last child. We have 2 DS already. We've found out that we're having DS number 3😂. I was completely adamant this one felt different and have been very excited to use my favourite girls name. Lost many bets. Alas.

Lucy is youthful, sweet and elegant.
It means light.
It has both vintage and modern appeal.
It's timeless.

It's not a name suited to a boy, though.

My Q to you is what is the boys equivalent of such a classic yet modern and fresh sounding name? (We have a Jack and Tom). DH likes Finn.

Help! Help! Help!

Lucas
Robin
Finn

all mean ‘light’ and fit well with your other boys’ names.

I also love
Sam (Samuel)
Ben (Benjamin)
Will (William)

Luke is a fantastic classic name, underused and has the same light feel. I prefer it to Lucas and Luca, both of which feel more trendy.

Joel!

I know a man called Lucy. I thought it was a boy’s name when I was a kid. When I was a bit older I found out he was actually called Malcolm or something. I’d prob go Lucian and call him Lucy anyway.

William

Classic. Masculine. Timeless. Always seem to be popular with their peers. I'm sorry you don't get to use Lucy but how lovely to have a team of boys to love and cuddle you (I switch favourites between my boy and my girl and my girl is being absolutely foul lately so I'm glad I have my wee lad to squidge!)

LadyMacbethWasMisunderstood · 07/11/2020 12:03

I’d go for another single syllable name. I like short names anyway.

I know of twins Jack and Finn. Finn is cool. Not unusual. But nice. Unusual can be over-rated.

What about Luke or Seth?

YoniAndGuy · 07/11/2020 13:40

Finn is good, it's a bit elfin.

Jack, Tom, Louis
Jack, Tom, Theo
Jack, Tom, Osian
Jack, Tom, Seth
Jack, Tom, Leo
Jack, Tom, Malachi (Mal)
Jack, Tom, Roddy

WaxOnFeckOff · 07/11/2020 13:51

I like Finn but not sure it sounds quite right with Jack and Tom if that matters.

Definitely another one syllable classic or something that shortens to one:

Edward/Edgar/Edwin - Ed
Henry or Harvey - Hal
Benedict/Benjamin - Ben
Samuel - Sam

Others that aren't one syllable that also go:

Harry
Peter
Gideon

SE13Mummy · 07/11/2020 14:04

Finn is great but others I think go well include...
Daniel
Edward
Felix
Gabriel
William

ellaballoo · 07/11/2020 14:20

I have a magnificent 17 year old Finn .
I say go for it !

wid07 · 07/11/2020 14:40

John

bearfood · 07/11/2020 14:44

I have a Finn, he's 18. Obviously I'm biased but I think it's a lovely name. Q

SugarCoatIt · 07/11/2020 14:48

Flynn

CharitySchmarity · 07/11/2020 17:16

Finn goes well with the other two boys' names, and I agree Max would too.

A boy's name that has the same sort of feel as Lucy - I think of something that would have fitted in with the Victorians but is also mainstream now. Something like William or Edward maybe. But honestly I would be very happy with Finn.

Fromthebirdsnest · 08/11/2020 10:40

I love Max with those names I have a Max and a jack ... being a mum of boys is great my cousin has 3 boys and wouldn’t change it for the world ... I love Lucy too (my husbands best friends daughters name though 😭) x
