Boy names help?

Not sure if I'm having a girl or a boy yet. For a girls name already sorted! Just stuck for boys names. I want something not so heard of (but at the same time I do like normal names too) I suggested Riley for a boy but partner hates that name! I also like Gunner, Hunter etc (don't think I'd have the nerve to call my son that though!)

We want something strong, not too weird but also not plain and basic? Any suggestions?! X

My boys are Quinn & Brodie. Their names are both uncommon enough for us not to know of any others IRL but not too outlandish.

FWIW, my eldest has 2 Riley's in his class, it's quite popular here.

Following with interest!
I know this sounds sooooo bad 🙈 but as a teacher I roll my eyes every time we get an 'out there' name and I don't want everyone rolling theirs at my child's name! But I like names that are a bit different. It's a fine line.

I know 3 Brodies - 1 human and 2 dogs! I think it's quite common in Scotland.
Your choices seem quite American to me (maybe you are??).

Is your husband gunning for Gunner?

According to a quick Google search Gunner is Scandinavian however like a pp I thought it was American. Maybe because it's next to Hunter.

Not keen on Gunner or Hunter. Gunther?

Gunnnar is the more usual spelling, and seems less like the English word meaning 'a warrior with a deadly weapon'.

My boy is Miles
I adore it still :)

Nep2020 · 06/11/2020 21:35

I think we're going for Max my OH liked Gunnar but as much as I like it I can't imagine it for my son! Boys names are so much more difficult.

I love Hunter but we have settled on Ruaridh (we are in Scotland). DS1 is an Oliver.

MaverickDanger · 06/11/2020 21:56

Carson was the first name that came to mind seeing the names you like.

We’re having a boy & likely to be one of Max, Caleb, Nathaniel or Lachlan.
