I really like Oliver, Louis, Finn and Jack.
Noah seems very over used (although Oliver has been most popular boys name for several years)
Ryan and Luther are awful.

Lewis and Flynn? Fairly similar to Louis and Finn.

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 05/11/2020 11:26

I love Finn and Noah.

Not a fan of Ryan or Luther.

Alternates - Owen, Rex, Samuel

HalfBloodPrincess · 05/11/2020 11:28

I love Ryan! Jack is my second favourite.

Suggestions of Reuben, Elliot, Max and Jonathan

Sexnotgender · 05/11/2020 11:31

Luther - no
Jack - no
Finn - no, how about Finlay?
Louis - no
Oliver - ok but boring
Noah - so overused and boring
Ryan - it’s ok

Arran
Benjamin
Samuel
Wilfred

Boy’s names are HARD! I just found out I’m having a girl, so much easier.
We’ve got a little boy already and I really struggled to find a name I loved.

MikeUniformMike · 05/11/2020 12:23

Luther - too closely associated with religion and human rights
Jack - safe
Finn - nice but a naughty boy name, Finn/Finlay too popular
Louis - safe
Oliver - safe
Noah - No ah
Ryan - overused about 2 decades ago

I don't particularly dislike any of them, but I wouldn't choose any of them either.

I'd cross off Noah, Ryan and Luther, then Finn and Louis.
Oliver is a no as there's one in my immediate group, so that leaves
Jack.

AdaColeman · 05/11/2020 12:28

Most of them have been in the top ten names for some years.

Ryan and Luther are my least favourite.

BatleyTownswomensGuild · 05/11/2020 12:29

Luther - not keen, am thinking Lex Luther and evil supervillains generally.
Jack - solid name but there are billions of them about
Finn - lovely. My favourite.
Louis - not my taste personally, but not objectionable
Oliver - sane as Jack
Noah - nice
Ryan - a bit dated imo

Kanaloa · 05/11/2020 12:35

Luther - not keen, Lex Luther
Jack - nice but very popular
Finn - don’t like or dislike
Louis - don’t like, reminds me of royals
Oliver - a bit popular but a fine name
Noah - popular but nice name
Ryan - really like this, haven’t ever looked after a Ryan. It is a little bit dated but I don’t mind dated names.

Starlight39 · 05/11/2020 12:38

I like
Jack
Finn
Louis
Oliver
Noah

Some other suggestions:
Ralph
Jude
Henry

Zolaanna · 05/11/2020 12:41

You can't have naughty names Confused

emilybrontescorsett · 05/11/2020 12:51

Best Louis by a mile
Next Finn
Jack and Oliver are ok, solid , traditional names which nobody will ever mis spell.
I don’t like the others.
Ryan just screams naughty kid to me sorry
Noah I have never liked just don’t think it’s a nice name unless you are deeply religious.
Luther is a definite no. Will always think of the detective and too similar to Lucifer.

MikeUniformMike · 05/11/2020 12:55

Zolaanna - the naughty refers to the type of boy who would have the name.

The 'naughty boy name' is the one that teachers dread seeing on the intake list because they associate it with badly behaved boys.

Peachbubble · 05/11/2020 13:00

I like Jack, Finn and Noah.

PinkJellycat · 05/11/2020 13:03

I love Jack and Oliver.

I'd suggest Joseph, Jonathan or Nicholas.

Zolaanna · 05/11/2020 13:12

MikeUniformMike thanks for having to explain this to me....couldn't have worked that out for myselfGrin

Well I'm a teacher and I can clarify there is no such thing as 'naughty names'

Zolaanna · 05/11/2020 13:14

MN never fails in its snobbery.
Sorry guys but Olivia and Oliver can be t**ts too

MikeUniformMike · 05/11/2020 13:15

That's ok, Zolaanna, always happy to help.

MikeUniformMike · 05/11/2020 13:16

You'll find that snobbery occurs in real life too.

notalwaysalondoner · 05/11/2020 15:36

I like Louis.
Jack, Oliver and Noah are all fine.
Finn is ok.
Luther and Ryan are not nice, Luther sounds like a serial killer to me for some reason...

CatteStreet · 05/11/2020 15:38

Louis and Noah are the only ones I like.

They're all rather popular (apart from Ryan, which is rather 80s/90s-sounding to me, and Luther, which I somehow feel I should like but don't).

Namechange8471 · 05/11/2020 15:39

Jack is my favourite

Noah - too biblical
Luther - reminds me of Luther Van Dross
Oliver - dated
Louis - dated
Ryan - very dated
Finn - belongs in the bin

DramaAlpaca · 05/11/2020 15:52

I hate names being described as 'naughty boy names'. It's almost always the ones with Irish or Scottish roots.

Anyway, I like all OP's list with the exception of Luther and Noah.

My favourite is Finn I ran out of children and had to use it on the dog

MumChats · 05/11/2020 16:00

This is my ranking:
Jack
Louis
Oliver
Noah
Finn (Finlay/Finley on BC)
Ryan

Luther - by far my least favourite, can't work out why it's popular but suspect becuase of the tv series?

IndecentFeminist · 05/11/2020 16:01

Not a fan of any tbh. Finn probably only one I would consider

user1493494961 · 05/11/2020 16:23

Dislike Luther and Ryan, the rest are nice, if a bit popular, would probably choose Louis or Finn.
