Do I like Aiden?

Baby was due just over a week ago and we still can’t decide on a boys name.

My first choice is Ellis. But DP doesn’t like it.

He’s come up with Aiden, but I don’t know if I like it, it’s very close to a certain name that some people have a very strong opinion on.

Other options that we both like but have ultimately veto’d are
Thomas
Finn
Fraser
Samuel
James.

Would be a sibling for Joseph.

An options on Aiden? Or other names ideas?

We had Ellis as a choice as well as Aidan! Went with Aidan and really love it.

Appropriate given tonight's storm!

doctorhamster · 31/10/2020 19:20

It's Aidan with an a isn't it? I love it!

Chocolatepeanuts · 31/10/2020 19:23

I love it but I've an Aodhán at home so biased! Just curious as to what the name is that people have a strong opinion on?

MonkeyPuddle · 31/10/2020 19:24

I think DP got the name from the weather forecast, hopefully not a premonition of how my labour will go!

And yes, I’ve misspelt Aidan Grin I’m very pregnant, blaming it on that!

Good name

SeanCailleach · 31/10/2020 19:44

Beautiful classic.

Anni3getyourgun · 31/10/2020 19:57

You haven’t misspelled it. You can spell it with an e or an a - with an e is actually slightly more popular according to the stats.

It’s a lovely name. I also like Finn a lot. Other ideas... Elliot, Felix, Rowan, Austin...

QuentinQuarantino · 31/10/2020 20:13

It's a great name. Much prefer the Aidan spelling. Seems more authentic.

Sounds good with Joseph too imo.

Jattjewd · 31/10/2020 20:26

Aidan is a great name, goes well with Joseph too.

cptartapp · 31/10/2020 20:31

Not overly keen.
Adam is nicer.

Flowerpot345 · 31/10/2020 20:34

Not a fan, love Thomas though.

Firebird83 · 31/10/2020 21:27

The Aidan spelling is better

Katgolde · 01/11/2020 09:53

I like Aidan, and Thomas would work for the middle name.

Greyhoundgirly · 01/11/2020 09:58

It's nice and goes well with sibling name!! Good luck with new baby x

foxtiger · 01/11/2020 10:04

I like Aidan with an A. I think people will generally assume it's spelt that way, so you'd be saving him some misunderstandings if you went with it. Not fond of Ellis (or surnamey names in general) but I like all the other names on your list, except possibly Samuel (I don't love the full version but like Sam and would probably use Samuel as the official name).

Dinosaursdontgrowontrees · 01/11/2020 10:07

It’s insanely popular where I am. Off the top of my head I can think of 9 little Aidans all under 7. Dd has 2 in her class, ds has 3 in his!
Having said that I agree it’s a lovely name and goes well with Joseph.

Zolaanna · 01/11/2020 10:15

Love Ellis but Aidan is also nice

Crappyfridays7 · 01/11/2020 10:26

I’ve got an aiden not sure what the other names are?..not a fan of kaiden/Jayden but Aiden is a nice name and I prefer that spelling to the Aidan but just personal preference. My friend has a Samuel and Joseph also. Cameron is nice too with Joseph.

MonkeyPuddle · 01/11/2020 10:27

DP has now sprung Sebastian on me. I quite like Seb. I’m horribly indecisive about things!

Ismellphantoms · 01/11/2020 10:32

I really dislike Aidan. I've met some horrible ones through work and it's made me biased. Ellis is a surname to me. You can't go wrong with Adam or Thomas.

Harmarsuperstar · 01/11/2020 10:35

I like James and Aidan.
Do you like Patrick?

Takethewinefromtheswine · 01/11/2020 10:41

I really don't like Aidan or Ellis. I like James and Thomas from your list, but Sebastian is also great.

Ellmau · 01/11/2020 17:43

Aidan and Sebastian are both nice.

What about Adam or Alexander?

resm · 01/11/2020 21:43

One Joseph I know has James & Christopher as brothers. Another Joseph has a brother Hugh.
