Brother for Felix

We are expecting DS2 shortly - a brother for Felix. Our current shortlist is
Max (Maximilian full name, I think, or possibly maxwell)
Caspar
Freddie (Frederick full name)
Oscar (DH not very keen, knew one at school he really didn’t like!!)

Thoughts? There are LOTS of other boys in the family so lots of the usual names have been used. Wary of the X’s with Felix and max (also have an Alex) so that’s putting me off.

Caspar is the current favourite- do people still associate it with the friendly ghost?! Thoughts on Caspar?

Anything similar we haven’t thought of?

Some great names there. Just an idea of you like Caspar how about Oscar or jasper?

I think that while Casper the ghost might be familiar to some people (it's probably my first reference after Caspar/Kaspar of the biblical Three Kings), I don't think others would necessarily think of it. Variations of the name have all been steadily rising in popularity, so it is much more familiar to people as a general name now. Only issue is that it will often get misspelt.

If I had 2 X names already I would finish with another.. .

Oh and I love Max (especially as a nn for Maxim/Maximilian) and Frederick is a nice classic name. I like Max best but Freddie sounds fine with Felix too. Oscar is not my taste, sorry.

I also love the name Rufus with Felix - both quirky Roman/Latin classics. I quite ike the "X" theme of Felix, Alex and Max but it could cause future naming problems if you have more kids!

I have a felix and considering Casper now I’ve read this thread and maybe Rufus. Jasper has been off the list due to family but I like it. Have also had Tobias, Henry, Hugo, Laurence and Leonard on the list. Oliver?

Max is a great name

I don't like Felix and Freddy together. Too many Fs. which I think is worse than all the xs because at the start of each name.

Jasper is nicer than Caspar, but Caspar's perfectly OK.

Do you think of a cat with Felix? I bet not. No one will think of the ghost once they've met your son. My children haven't heard of the ghost but have a friend called Caspar

I've got a Freddie and Bertie which I think are similar to your choices (Alfred and Albert).

I thought Oscar before I read your list!
Max and Freddie are good, I'm not keen on Casper.
