Demi Moores. I can't, can I?

I promise it's not after the actress. I've had Demi in mind my entire life. I've bloody gone and married into the only surname that I can't really use it with!

Of course you can. But you shouldn't.

@floofycroissant

Surely no one below the age of 30 even knows who she is anymore? If you love it then go for it.
My teenagers didn't know who Sandra Bullock was but then she did Bird Box on Netflix and became more known to their age group.

Demi Moore could easily do the same imo

@SeanCailleach

I don't see why not. Except Demi means "half". Is it short for something else? Jemma, Jamie, any use?
Demetria. That's why the actress pronounces it "d'MEE", not to rhyme with Emmy.
AdelaideK · 26/10/2020 14:32

No I wouldn't do it. Demi is an awful name anyway. There must be one more name you like.

melisande99 · 26/10/2020 14:43

I was bored enough to Google it and it turns out "Demetria" is a myth - she was always just Demi. But Demetria's a nice name - you could consider that and use Demi as a nickname at home.

@MikeUniformMike

Call her Bobbie.

@Ingridla, there was a thread a while ago where the OP didn't want to name her DS Bobby but her DH was insisting. When I asked if her surname was Moore, it clicked. Her DH was winding her up. Grin

Demi could be short for Demeter.

BullshitVivienne · 26/10/2020 19:06

Demi Lovato is Demetria.

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 26/10/2020 19:47

Well, if she marries and takes her husbands surname she could have 50 or 60 years of being Demi Somethingelse.

But I think probably best not to, sorry OP.

Firebird83 · 26/10/2020 19:52

It’s not a nice name anyway. Go with something else.
