Got a looong way to go but DP and I both like the name Michaela.

Which spelling is best - Mikayla or Michaela?

I’m a teacher and know what people think about crazy spellings but I also have known a child called Michael who was the spawn of Satan so it puts me off that spelling.

Michaela definitely, she's the one who has to go through life always getting her name spelt wrong if you go for a "creative" spelling.
