Adam?

I’m really surprised this name isn’t that popular, think it’s a lovely name. Plan on giving him Noah or Lewis as a middle name, undecided which yet and will probably just go with which seems right on the birth day. Is it outdated or something, or perfectly fine?

I really like it! I've never understood why it isn't more popular either

JemimaTiggywinkle · 23/10/2020 11:32

I really like it. Classic but not dated or overused

Hiccupiscal · 23/10/2020 11:34

Its great. Will be different from all the more popular names! I would try something more classic as middle name too!
Adam is a refreshing change from the other names you've mentioned, Lewis/noah which seem to be everywhere!

FluffyEggsontoast · 23/10/2020 13:45

I also never understand why it's not more popular, it's such a classic name, love it

LarkDescending · 23/10/2020 13:54

It’s great. Works for any age, and anywhere in the world.

WildCherryBlossom · 23/10/2020 13:56

Love it!

MollyButton · 23/10/2020 13:59

It was incredibly popular about 20 years ago.

Felicity88 · 23/10/2020 14:02

I like it! Smile

Yeah I'm 25 and I went to school with quite a few, along with Connor's and Alfie's
JollyGiraffe12 · 23/10/2020 14:06

I like it don’t meet many young Adams

CorianderLord · 23/10/2020 14:25

I know a good four or five Adams in my age range (25). Great name, strong without clobbering you over the head, classic but not old fashioned. Nothing to bully about it and doesn't put expectations on the child to turn out a certain way (like Grace or Bear).

Lovely.

Peachbubble · 23/10/2020 16:16

One of my favourite names.

TempsPerdu · 23/10/2020 16:17

Adam has really grown on me lately. Pretty popular when I was growing up in the 80s and 90s (several of my brother’s close friends are Adams) but somehow hasn’t dated too badly. Strong, simple and unfussy, and not as predictable as current ‘trendy’ picks like Noah and Arlo.

It’s a yes from me. Smile

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 23/10/2020 19:43

I'm not super keen on Lewis or Noah but they are okay middle names. Are they names of relatives? I'd use family names or something more traditional in the middle name spot personally.

I really like Adam though - it's not outdated, just less popular than it was 30-40 years ago when it was a top 20 name. I think Adam is strong, simple and well known internationally. It has a similar feel to names like Samuel or Daniel in terms of biblical style and popularity (although without the obvious nicknames of Sam or Dan). Nice choice OP!

DramaAlpaca · 23/10/2020 21:06

I like it a lot.

foxtiger · 23/10/2020 22:02

I've always loved it. Would certainly have had it on my shortlist only it sounds too similar to another name in the immediate family, so I would be very happy if someone else used it.

Tillygetsit · 23/10/2020 23:02

I love it. Strong and gentle at the same time.

Coldwinds · 23/10/2020 23:06

I have a brother Adam and an ex Adam. It’s a really strong name. It’s a name that will last well in to adulthood

Ikeameatballs · 23/10/2020 23:11

I like it. It’s easy to spell and pronounce but not too popular and not really dated.

Only thing I’m not sure if is the pairing with Lewis and Noah. I like both of those but not sure how well they flow with Adam? I think it’s because they are all two syllables and I usually think that names flow better when the length of them varies? Perhaps depends upon your surname.

SionnachRua · 23/10/2020 23:12

Absolutely love it.

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 24/10/2020 02:23

It was incredibly popular about 20 years ago.

It hit its absolute peak about 6,000 years ago - there was a time when 1 in every 1 males was called it Grin
