Due baby in a few weeks and have a boys name for definite.

We like the name Mila for a girl pronounce Mee-La.

However feel we will constantly have a pronunciation battle??

Should we explore other spellings?

Mela
Meela
Meila?????

I know two Mila's, one is 'Mee-la' one 'My-la' but spelt the same. For what its worth I think Mee-la is the correct pronunciation in my head and don't understand why the other parents didn't just spell it Myla

Due to actress Mila Kunis, many people know that Mila is pronounced "Mee- la". I think the other spellings look a bit odd personally.

MikeUniformMike · 18/10/2020 21:45

I'd say Mila as Meela.

Mela I would say as Mella
Meela - will get misspelt
Meila - will get My-la or Mee-la.

I'd stick to Mila.

I know a Meelah. Mila looks nicest imo and most people will know how its pronounced

TheDaydreamBelievers · 19/10/2020 11:17

Definitely Mila and I would natural pronounce it the way you do

Whatsyourflava · 19/10/2020 11:22

Mila is lovely the way it is. Great choice

BuffaloCauliflower · 19/10/2020 11:26

Mila is pronounced Mee-lah. Anyone varying on that pronunciation is wrong. If you want to use Mila and say it is Mee-lah, go ahead

ShallICompareTheeToASummersDay · 19/10/2020 11:35

I must be in the minority thinking it would be pronounced my-la (as in a female equivalent to Milo). When paired with Kunis I would say it correctly though 🤷🏻‍♀️

The other spellings look odd though so I’d probably stick with Mila and correct people. You’d only need to tell them once (hopefully!)

MyNameHasBeenTaken · 19/10/2020 11:37

Sorry, no help but the only mila I know is "miller"

ttcAlex · 19/10/2020 12:16

I would always read Mila as mee-la, it's a lovely name.

Raffaella13 · 24/10/2020 21:07

Definitely stick with Mila!

emilybrontescorsett · 24/10/2020 22:26

I've never heard of anyone called it so would assume Mile - ah.

IckleBear · 25/10/2020 12:14

Stick with Mila!
