Due our second dd soon and stuck between Alice and Harriet, out first dd is called Emily. We will probably wait and see which she suits but would like opinions please?

I love both names (helpful).

I tend to think of Alice as a very beautiful, tall slim girl with long dark hair, don't know why. 🤷🏼‍♀️

And Hattie (I prefer the nn to the actual name) is a sporty, quite tomboyish girl who has a great sense of humour and is full of fun.

I realise thats not helpful AT ALL!! sorry!

ThaliaLuxurySpa · 04/10/2020 12:11

Alice.
(Emily's one of my favourites, btw! Good choice made for DD no1)

LemonandLavender · 04/10/2020 12:12

Definitely Harriet.

ImaSababa · 04/10/2020 12:22

Alice is lovely.

Harriet is a bit "braying toff" and Hattie isn't a pretty nickname.

CherryBlossomTree7 · 04/10/2020 12:32

Neither are my cup of tea.

But Alice is nicer than Harriet. Harriet is quite an ugly name IMO.

Alice is a nicer sounding and a name that I don't think will date.

Littlepoppet1 · 04/10/2020 12:33

A vote for Harriet here!

AdaColeman · 04/10/2020 12:34

Both lovely, but Alice is my favourite.

motherofdxughters · 04/10/2020 12:34

Harriet.

ShalomToYouJackie · 04/10/2020 12:37

Alice

Flipflophurray · 04/10/2020 12:38

Alice
Harriet will become Harry

PeachesTheFlamingo · 04/10/2020 13:13

I prefer Alice and it flows better with Emily. Harriet will definitely get shortened to Harri.

MikeUniformMike · 04/10/2020 13:42

Both are really nice. I prefer Alice, but feel Harriet goes better with Emily.

finallychangedmyusername · 04/10/2020 13:45

Alice and Emily are two of my favourite girl names! A definite vote for Alice.

Tweetypietwo · 04/10/2020 13:45

Both are lovely and go well with Emily! Just wait and see what she suits most when she arrives 😃

ReeseWitherfork · 04/10/2020 13:45

Harriet

MichelleOR84 · 04/10/2020 16:16

I like Harriet with Harry as a nickname best . Alice is pretty too ! I know what you mean about meeting the baby first though .

DramaAlpaca · 04/10/2020 16:18

I like both names a lot.

I think Alice goes best with Emily. Both are gentle, soft sounding names whereas Harriet is a bit more spiky.

Oneandabean · 04/10/2020 17:20

Alice is so lovely and goes best with Emily

MikeUniformMike · 04/10/2020 17:34

I really don't like Harry, or Harri, as a nn for a girl.

LarkDescending · 04/10/2020 18:00

Alice. I love it.

Pemba · 04/10/2020 18:08

Alice is a beautiful name.

I do quite like Harriet but it's not in the same league.

Either would go well with Emily

BikeRunSki · 04/10/2020 18:13

I’m an Alice, so I am biased. Just check how Alice sounds with your surname. Because of the soft ending, it runs into my very vowelly surname and makes a completely different, legitimate (and much more common for my age) name.

Tillygetsit · 04/10/2020 23:18

Another vote for Alice. My cousin has one so I'm biased. She's spelt the Welsh way though, Alys as dcous husband had a problem with A lice Hmm

MercyBodle · 04/10/2020 23:46

I see your dilemma as both are great names and both work perfectly well with sister Emily. I see Alice as a more gentle, more sweet name and Harriet as bit tougher and more quirky, if that helps. Hopefully one of them will feel just right when she is born! Sorry not much help here.

That’s nuts. “Lice” is plural, the singular is “louse”.
