Opinions on May as a first name for a girl?

I love it - it's way too overused as a middle name but quite unusual as a first name.

DramaAlpaca · 03/10/2020 16:59

Lovely. I agree with @NannyR.

Thank you - I love it but like you say it's very overused as a middle name. Coincidentally it's my birth month.

I like it but think the spelling Mae or Mai looks nicer

Auto · 03/10/2020 17:15

It's a lovely name and unusual as a first name.

Thanks for your opinions I'm glad you like it

It’s nice, if you want something longer you can have Maeve with nn mae, but if just May definitely stick with the original spelling.

@why2020 Mai is Welsh and pronounced my so a bit different.

missmouse101 · 03/10/2020 17:44

It was lovely but is now completely over used as a middle name and so I have gone right off it.

daisypond · 03/10/2020 17:47

I like it as a first name a lot.

MikeUniformMike · 03/10/2020 18:56

Mae is awful. Mai is pronounced My.

May is ok as a first name (used as a form of Mary) but overused as a mn.

bcccc · 03/10/2020 19:34

Yeah it is really overused as a mn! My little cousins middle names are Rae and Mae.

Mai is also an Arabic name. Pronunciation is somewhere between My and May.

I love it - both May and Mai
