Alliterative names

Hi all,

Just looking for opinions here, need to know if this is ok because I think I’ve gone baby name blind with all the options we have floating about! 😂

If we named the baby Max and our surname happened to be Mulcahy would this be weird with the double M sound? They would have a middle name as well (not an M name!) but obviously, most people only use their first and surnames.

Some alliterative names are really fab, and Max Mulcahy is one of them. It's really cool.

Aquamarine1029 · 30/09/2020 19:31

I agree with @DramaAlpaca. Max Mulcahy is great. Some alliterative names are awful. For me, I have never liked P, B, or D ones.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 30/09/2020 19:32

It’s fine.

TommyShelby · 30/09/2020 19:33

Thanks Aqua and Alpaca, that’s really helpful! I’m stuck in name fog and half the things I can’t work out if I like or not anymore Grin just really don’t want them to sound like they are from the Beano you know!

Personally, I would use Maxwell Mulcahy on the bc, but that's just me.

MikeUniformMike · 30/09/2020 19:51

Just use Max. I like the alliteration. Mark goes well with M surnames too.

sorryforswearing · 30/09/2020 19:59

I hate alliterative names. Some people love them. It’s just personal taste. x

Creamteafatty · 30/09/2020 20:13

Max Mulcahy is a cool name.

ThursdayLastWeek · 30/09/2020 20:17

One of mine has an alliterative name and I honestly don’t think anyone has ever paid it heed.

Scotstar · 30/09/2020 20:45

My son is Andrew with an A surname. Tbh inever even thought about the alliteration as Andrew has been a name picked since I was little but it sounds really good

micc · 30/09/2020 22:10

My daughter is CC and I think its sounds great. Makes the name really memorable. It also flows nicely too :)

Jujuball · 30/09/2020 22:15

Ooo I think it sounds really good! Smile

Tillygetsit · 30/09/2020 22:49

Great! One of mine is alliterative.

TommyShelby · 30/09/2020 23:12

Thanks everyone, you’ve been really reassuring! Just didn’t want them to sound like a cartoon character.

Now I have to go back into the fog for girls names! Wish me luck Grin
