Immi short for Imogen altho dh would like us to christen imogen if we have a girl and indie shirt for India but may just actually use indie. Any thoughts ? Or other suggestions?

I like unusual names so I like them but indie I have never heard of in my home town , I think there’s bound to be something amazing out there lol xx

I love both. I’d go for Imogen though. You could always NN Immi and at a stretch Indie x

BendingSpoons · 30/09/2020 07:34

You could also have Indigo nn Indi

daisypond · 30/09/2020 07:34

They are not unusual at all. Imogen is OK, though not my style. It’s usually shortened to Immi. I consider India to be unusable these days. Indie is a bit twee. Both are a bit dated.

I prefer Imogen (Immi).

MercyBodle · 30/09/2020 09:02

Neither of those is unusual. Indie is everywhere. If it is out of just Immi and Indie I would choose Indie as it is a touch more substantial. But out of Imogen and India, definitely Imogen, one of my favourite names. I think it's a good idea to have a fuller version on the bc.

You could also have Ingrid nn Indi which I think is lovely and a little more unusual.

Imogen nickname Immi is lovely and much more unusual than it used to be
Numbers of Imogen's have been declining every year since 2010. Theres now half the number of Imogen's each year as there was in 2010

MikeUniformMike · 30/09/2020 10:46

Neither are unusual.

wishing3 · 30/09/2020 10:48

I kind both, but Imogen is my favourite. Or PP’s suggestion of Indigo is a good shout. Unusual but not too wacky IMO.

bridgetreilly · 30/09/2020 11:39

Imogen. Give her a proper name. Immi is a perfectly fine nickname but leaves the child with nowhere to go if she doesn't like it or wants something more substantial later in life.

I really, really don't like India. Indigo would be a better choice.

Firebird83 · 30/09/2020 12:26

Imogen

Kanaloa · 30/09/2020 12:55

Imogen is lovely, and nickname Immi is so nice for a little girl. There is a very cute picture book called Immi by Karin Littlewood. If you do use Indie, I would use Indiana or Ingrid rather than India.

DragonPie · 30/09/2020 14:15

Imogen isn’t unusual. I love India, nn Indie.

toiletpaper · 30/09/2020 14:29

I absolutely love the name Indi and it was an option for DD, didn't go with it in the end as ex didn't like it. I've never liked Imogen.

Mrsi2020 · 30/09/2020 17:33

I can’t come up with anything more unusual we both like. I live in Ireland so indie is unusual here, love the suggestion of Indiana! If anyone has any other suggestions shout away lol. Thanks everyone for your input xx
