I am so stuck between these two names for boys. My husband prefers one and I prefer the other. Our surname is Whisker if that helps!
Thank you 😊

Jack. It goes much better with the surname.

ellentree · 21/09/2020 22:37

I really like Jack! When I was at primary school we learnt a song with the lyrics 'Joshua, Joshua, nicer than lemon squash you are...' and it reminds me of that every time I hear it and I sing it in my head - aside from that I also like the name so you can't go wrong really. Both go with your surname I think.

weasledee · 21/09/2020 23:36

@ellentree that's exactly what my mum sings to my Joshua! 😀 I'd never heard of it 😀

Thank you all for your replies 😊

I much prefer Jack.
And it sounds better with the surname.

ImaSababa · 22/09/2020 13:37

Jack Whisker is a great name! Flows much better and has more character than Joshua Whisker.

MikeUniformMike · 22/09/2020 14:19

Another saying Jack but John is better.

Fast90 · 22/09/2020 14:22

As others have said, Joshua is awful.

Jack Whisker is a bloody great name!

Lonelycrab · 22/09/2020 14:25

Another biased vote for JackSmile

ablisha · 24/09/2020 16:46

Thank you all! Doesn't help my husband is now changing his mind! 🙈

Samuel is nicer than Joshua.

Angel2702 · 24/09/2020 18:00

I like both but both are extremely popular. Joshua is the most used name In all my children’s classes.

Yesterdayforgotten · 24/09/2020 18:01

Prefer Joshua, dislike jack

Spied · 24/09/2020 18:02

Jack

Tweetypietwo · 25/09/2020 15:49

Jack Whisker - sounds really good!

PlantPotting · 25/09/2020 16:21

How do you mean your husband is changing mind @ablisha ?
I love both. I vote Joshua

PlantPotting · 25/09/2020 16:25

That's interesting @Angel2702
Just checked the numbers and the numbers of Joshuas have declined massively each and every year since 2003. I wondered why I've never met one. The name will have left the top 25 by the time the 2020 statistics are released I recon
Funny how things change
Lovely name!

MikeUniformMike · 25/09/2020 16:39

I still think you should call him Samuel.

CaffiSaliMali · 25/09/2020 17:19

I prefer Jack. It's also easier to say with your surname.

micc · 25/09/2020 18:41

I like Jack, Joshua Whisker sounds like a tad bit of a mouthful and it's hard to say

Yesterdayforgotten · 25/09/2020 19:05

Jack whisker sounds better but I prefer Joshua and how many people go around saying the full name that often...hmmm

Yesterdayforgotten · 25/09/2020 19:07

Other nice J names to consider:
Joel
Jenson

ablisha · 25/09/2020 20:12

@PlantPotting well he loved Jack and I loved Joshua. I've been swaying towards Jack and now he says he likes Joshua 🙈

@MikeUniformMike Samuel is lovely but unfortunately already taken within our family.

We will be using Finley as a middle name for either. I am only put off Jack as it seems so common where we live.

cptartapp · 25/09/2020 20:19

Prefer Joshua but Jack goes better with your surname.
James is much nicer than either.

BackforGood · 25/09/2020 20:23

I think they are both lovely names.
With your surname, I'd slightly edge towards Jack, as I think it rolls better with Whisker.
