Finding it really difficult to find a name this time round. My 2 other children have very unique names and I think Zen goes with their names also
It’s a Japanese boys name but I like it for both sexes.
I worried that I could have a hyperactive tenacious child though Grin

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

My friends had a boy called Zen :) really suited their beachy, hippy family Haha. It's a cool name, I think their boy it's pretty Zen but you do run the risk of him not and it being very ironic! It got a few raised eyebrows but its really inoffensive and cool sounding. Have you considered Zed?

Helpmeplan2020 · 21/09/2020 16:30

I like Zed too but not half as much Smile

I know a baby Zen and it really suits him

rorosemary · 21/09/2020 16:48

Hmmm I'm mostly against using such unique concepts as names but I really do like Zen for a boy. Are you a bit hippyish? It might not fit within a very corporate family.

Undies1990 · 21/09/2020 16:52

Zen - Love it!
Zed - not so much.

Helpmeplan2020 · 21/09/2020 17:05

Thanks all. It’s a great name, I am having a boy so it works really well. It’s the top of my list

I love Zen!

Luckingfovely · 21/09/2020 17:31

It's properly hippy-dippy, but if that's what you want, then go for it!

AnnaSW1 · 21/09/2020 17:45

I think it's great if they are laid back. But if he ends up being high octane highly strung then it will be a bit of a cross to bear for him

CherryBlossomTree7 · 21/09/2020 17:49

It is nice but not my cup of tea.

I wouldn't use it just in case he is in fact....not zen!

Estrellente · 21/09/2020 17:54

Hate it, sorry Grin

user1493494961 · 21/09/2020 20:04

Awful, although you said it goes well with your other children's names.

Random789 · 21/09/2020 20:10

You will have to budget for the fact that a sizeable monority of people will totally pity him and think that his parents were thoughtless and daftt.

Helpmeplan2020 · 21/09/2020 20:35

It is a unique choice, I don’t think it’s too out there for people to think it’s ‘ thoughtless and daft’, it actually is a proper name. I guess I’m just not into common everyday names... Grin

It’s very unusual but nice. Where I live people pronounce the name Zain/Zayn a bit like this because of the accent.

hapagirl · 21/09/2020 20:37

Just wanted to let you know, it’s a Japanese word but not a Japanese name.

Kanaloa · 21/09/2020 20:38

Might be a bit ironic if he’s a bouncy or angry kid though - like a moody Joy I once knew!

DoTheMaccaroni · 21/09/2020 21:13

I love it 🙂

DoTheMaccaroni · 21/09/2020 21:15

I also love the name Zendaya but that was made up by the actresses Mum. Which is fine... but something about the fact that it’s a very new name and easily traced back to the actress put me off it.

But yeah, I definitely considered it because I think it’s so pretty and loved the nn Zen!

Parky04 · 21/09/2020 21:17

Zen was the ships computer in Blakes 7. Loved that show.

MagpieSong · 21/09/2020 21:17

Love it. Makes me think of The Suitcase kid by Jacqueline Wilson, but not in a bad way.

mamah2019 · 21/09/2020 22:03

Love it! Go for it for sure!

Sausagedog1 · 22/09/2020 09:19

Love it! But I would only use it if both parents are pretty chilled so the likelihood is you'll have a chilled out child! I have a chilled child and a very highly strung child and I bet the highly strung one would hate me if I had called him Zen!!
How about Bodhi? Love that one, means enlightened I think so similar vibe but less well known as a word.

VenusClapTrap · 23/09/2020 11:49

It’s a strong no from me.

bridgetreilly · 23/09/2020 12:09

Grim. It's not a name in any language.
