DH and I can’t decide between the two one of my preference but DH doesn’t like it and the other is his but I’m not sure.

Surname is similar to Davey
One of the names flows better with surname than the other

We would choose a middle name too if anyone has suggestions!

We already have a son called Evan

I like Finlay or Finn

cptartapp · 20/09/2020 10:32

Joshua.
Love Evan.

mintich · 20/09/2020 10:34

I prefer Finlay as a name but Joshua flows better

Firebird83 · 20/09/2020 10:37

Joshua sounds better with Davey

Sunnydaysstillhere · 20/09/2020 10:37

I have a Fynn. I know a Joshua but he gets Joshy...
Evan and Fynn.

Nice!!
One is Welsh and 1 Irish if that bothers you op!!

MaverickDanger · 20/09/2020 10:38

Finlay!

I like William, Daniel, Joel or Oscar for middle names with Finlay.

Evan is lovely.

festfestfest · 20/09/2020 10:38

Both BBC are nice but Finlay doesn't scan well with your surname.

Therefore Joshua.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 20/09/2020 11:00

FInlay is gorgeous. I can’t abide Joshua.
However I’d say Joshua Davey goes much better than Finley Davey.

Oneandabean · 20/09/2020 11:12

Joshua definitely

Garcellesaidwhaaat · 20/09/2020 11:13

Josh.

For some reason I always read Finlay in a brummy accent.

Anappleaday1 · 20/09/2020 11:15

I love Joshua, and it flows better with your surname. Finlay is lovely too though! Tough choice.

CakeRattleandRoll · 20/09/2020 11:31

Joshua

SpookyNoise · 20/09/2020 11:31

Joshua is a lovely name.

ddfitzwilliam · 20/09/2020 11:36

Finlay is wonderful and goes much better with Evan.
Joshua I find a bit swishy-swashy in the mouth. It doesn't have a nice sound.
Finn is also a much nicer nickname than Josh.

ArchbishopOfBanterbury · 20/09/2020 11:37

I prefer Joshua, its less 'current' and more timeless. There are lots of little Finn's and Flynn's around at the moment.
I think it works better with your surname too.

Nichola2310 · 20/09/2020 11:43

I love Finley, slightly different pronunciation.

VenusClapTrap · 20/09/2020 22:24

Joshua.

For some reason I always read Finlay in a brummy accent.
Me too Grin

Tillygetsit · 20/09/2020 22:40

Joshua.

Sojo88 · 20/09/2020 22:43

Both are great names but prefer Finlay

CrystalTits · 20/09/2020 22:43

My DS is Finlay. It was a really unusual name when he was born! But just to say that Finlay is the traditional spelling and it’s pronounced the same as Finley - ie not Fin-laaaayy. It’s a gorgeous name and I hope you choose it :)

LittleTiger007 · 21/09/2020 14:23

Joshua is a lovely name.

Kanaloa · 21/09/2020 15:00

Both names are nice but Finley Davey sounds a bit sing-songy. Joshua Davey sounds really good. I like Josh as well for a nickname.
