What do you think of Aurora Rose?
Roses are my favourite flower🌹
And I love the Disney association☺️

I knew an Aurora and she was lovely. I think you've chose a lovely name

Frazzled2207 · 16/09/2020 15:30

both nice names but I don't think they flow together particularly well because you have the three /r/ sounds in a row
Personally if your chosen first name ends in a vowel I would choose a middle name starting with a 'hard' consonant because otherwise they just crash into each other eg
Aurora Jade, Aurora Grace, Aurora Claire
better than Aurora Rose or Aurora Eve IMO

ImaSababa · 16/09/2020 15:31

It's a bit ro-ro-ro. Too much of the ro sound.

Nookable · 16/09/2020 15:32

It's pretty but it's very Disney. In Sleeping Beauty her official princess name was Aurora but then when she was being hidden she was called Briar Rose so it almost sounds like you're trying to name her after the princess twice.

I personally wouldn't use both together.

anonymous1989 · 16/09/2020 15:33

Really like Aurora but I find it ones of those names that's really hard to say. Always comes out very lispy.

ArtichokeAardvark · 16/09/2020 15:33

Both names are pretty but they dont flow. Also what if your daughter can't say her r's? Auwowa Wose...

CaMePlaitPas · 16/09/2020 15:34

I prefer Briar Rose. Aurora has been done to death.

Hermano · 16/09/2020 15:34

For me personally it's a bit too saccharine sweet, I'm not keen on super girly names and to have two at once is too much for me.

I'd expect someone with this sort of name to speak in a really high pitched voice and be a bit twee and sappy. I certainly wouldn't expect her to be good at maths or strong.

Sorry, but you asked.

abigailamelia · 16/09/2020 15:34

I also liked Aurora Violet but I’m not so keen on the colour purple

I think three r sounds in a row might be a bit awkward sounding. But assuming Rose is the middle name, she's just be Aurora in everyday life anyway.

Frazzled2207 · 16/09/2020 15:35

love Aurora Violet!

User478 · 16/09/2020 15:36

The only Aurora I know is called "Roar" and is very feisty.

abigailamelia · 16/09/2020 15:38

I think it just depends on how you personally pronounce your r’s, I don’t have a problem saying it.

Hermano · 16/09/2020 15:50

Good to hear it User! I'm just saying why I wouldn't choose it as a name, because it would make me pre-judge someone, and I'm pretty sure I'm not the only person who would pre-judge on a name. Not saying it's the right thing to do obviously... But when naming my children I tried to imagine them being an anonymous name I had to call at work, what would I assume about the person before I'd met them

I used to work with a man called Hunter, but when I finally met him he was a slight, sweet elderly man with a beautiful sing song Scottish voice.

I've just got a bit of an inbuilt thing against pretty girls names, it feels like labelling them as 'beauty is the most important thing in life' before they've even begun. Totally accept this is my own issue

Edenember · 16/09/2020 15:51

Tbh I struggle with Aurora anyway without another ‘r’ thrown into the mix, but that’s just me. If you love it, go for it. I just think it’s quite hard to say but in day to day life the full name will rarely be spoken anyway.

AbbieFB · 16/09/2020 15:53

I think it sounds a bit too r heavy.

I do have a dislike for Disney princess names though.

VenusClapTrap · 16/09/2020 15:59

The ro-ra-ro in the middle is too much. I think you need a middle name that starts with a consonant.

eddiemairswife · 16/09/2020 15:59

Nice name for a boat.

abigailamelia · 16/09/2020 16:02

Jesus some people on here are so horrible, I asked for your opinions not your criticism?

OP posts:
theresaplaceforus · 16/09/2020 16:02

It’s one of those names that I think looks lovely written down but is a bit of a mouthful to say. But if you love it, go for it, it’s pretty, inoffensive and not overly used. X

RavenT · 16/09/2020 16:02

My first thought is boat too,........

SeasonallySnowyPeasant · 16/09/2020 16:04

I really like Aurora but wasn't brave enough to use it for DD. It's a lovely name and people will soon start thinking of your DD rather than the Disney princess.

DrinkFeckArseGirls · 16/09/2020 16:06

You haven’t been long on here, OP? Grin

DoTheMaccaroni · 16/09/2020 16:08

Bleh too many R’s and Rose is way too overused. The Rose part just spoils the name for me.

BuffaloCauliflower · 16/09/2020 16:09

I have a very ‘proper’ London English sort of voice and it’s too many r’s for me.

Aurora is lovely though, and the Disney reference is fine! Violet goes better, but I’m sure there are loads of other nice options too. If you like the flower names what about Aurora Lily or Aurora Daisy, both seem to flow a bit better to me?
