I have one DC and due another baby in November, not found out the gender. We cannot decide on a girls or boys name!!
Every name I like DP vetos and vice versa.
Any suggestions for nice names to go with the surname Eden?
Thankyou!

The first girls name that popped into my head was Alexandra, I definitely think names with more syllables in sound good with your surname so how about:

Alexandra
Genevieve
Anastasia
Adeline
Penelope
Clementine

Edward
Alistair
Alexander
Theodore
Isaac
Jasper
Sebastian

ABabyPanda · 13/09/2020 21:00

@GoldenPlover my 2 year old is Alexander Grin

I love Penelope but DH doesn’t (hoping he will change his mind). Love Adeline too I hadn’t considered that.

I like Jasper too & Sebastian.

Putting the four of them in the baby book! We need to get some on the shortlist - I do wish we had found out the sex now at least to narrow it down!

@ABabyPanda glad I could help! I love Adeline. I like Adelaide too, which was used for quite a few princesses in the british royal family over the past few hundred years.

Girls names

  • Penelope
  • Adeline
  • Rose
  • Isla (DH)

Boys names

  • Jasper
  • Sebastian
  • Jude

This was our list last night looking at this and the top 100. Except DH doesn’t look any of the boys (but can’t suggest any) and I don’t like his choice of girl - Isla Eden?!

Not going well, baby will be nameless Hmm

@ABabyPanda I'm really loving Isla at the minute too. I honestly think Isla Eden sounds lovely.

I just love Penelope

out loud.

ABabyPanda · 14/09/2020 22:00

Yeah Isla Eden doesn’t flow to me. I love love Penelope. We did like Harper a few years back but I’m not sure now.

I am not keen on any boys name really Sad I do like the three listed but DH doesn’t, yet he gives me no suggestions for names he does like!!

I hope it’s a girl Grin

Girls names
Penelope - will be Penny.
Adeline - not keen and not keen on Adeline Eden
Rose - Rose Eden a bit too gardeny?
Isla - will be Isler Eden

Boys names
Jasper
Sebastian
Both go ok with surname. How about Terence?
Jude - Jude Eden doesn't really flow

How about Anthony or Antonia?

I think a 2+ syllable name, 3+ if it ends in a vowel would work best.

Florence
Evelyn
Erica
Lydia
Harriet

Joseph
Isaac
Edward
William
Zachary

CoalCraft · 16/09/2020 17:15

Personally, with a surname starting in a vowel, I would pick a name that does not end in a vowel sound Otherwise the two names can seem to blend into each other. I also think names with 2+ syllables work best.

For example I would go with Isaac over Isaiah, Johnathan over John, Helen over Heather.

SE13Mummy · 17/09/2020 10:14

I'm with @CoalCraft - our last name starts with a vowel too and we found lots of the names we liked seemed to run into the last name e.g. Nancy Eden = Nan Seeden, Harper Eden = Harpery Den, Phoebe Eden = Feeb Eden!

Some names I think go well:
Alice
Beatrice
Hannah
Harriet
Isabel
Jessica
Mirabel
Rose
Tabitha
