What are your thoughts on William? Do you think Will can be used on its own?

Love it! I know a Will who's always Will but is William on his birth certificate.

Strugglingtodomybest · 11/09/2020 11:07

I like it and can't see why you couldn't just use Will.

Whatsyourflava · 11/09/2020 11:15

Love it

Vivaca · 11/09/2020 11:26

I love it too, it was my grandfathers middle name so it's in the family. So you'd all opt for William on BC and call Will? I was potentially considering just Will but I love both! It's a good problem to have I guess!

Will is a verb and noun. Imagine saying "Will Will come..." or "Will's will". In other words, I don't like it as a name at all. Nor Willy.

William is nice as a full name.

Onthetrain75 · 11/09/2020 14:31

It’s lovely, but if you plan to send him to prep school....be warned that he may be one of about 5 in his year!

IslandLulu · 11/09/2020 14:39

Great name

CatsArePeopleToo · 11/09/2020 16:15

Have a William here, not Will.

frustrationcentral · 11/09/2020 16:17

We have had several Williams in our family, the youngest - now 11- is a Will. He suits it ( much more than william) and it is a bit weird saying "will Will be coming" etc but you get used to it. Wills is an option too

JoJoSM2 · 11/09/2020 16:20

As long as your surname doesn’t start with a C. Doesn’t make for great initials.

Ingridla · 11/09/2020 16:30

Sorry, strong dislike, always think it sounds pompous & formal

Goslowlysideways · 11/09/2020 16:37

William then he can be Will. I really don’t like people who give their children the shortened version of a name It’s weird.

SilverOtter · 11/09/2020 17:13

Love it😍

Firebird83 · 11/09/2020 17:56

Love William. I’d use the full name on the bc.

Lavenderblues · 11/09/2020 18:25

it is a bit weird saying "will Will be coming"

The verb Will is used so frequently that I don't like it as a name. "Will Will go?" Grin

daisypond · 11/09/2020 18:28

I really like Will. I’d still go for William on the BC, though..

niceladyatthedrs · 11/09/2020 18:29

I have a William-never Will

helpmum2003 · 11/09/2020 18:30

I have one so I obviously love the name. Used William on BC and now he's older he likes Will. William is very cute on little ones. Also gives nn option of Liam if they prefer. State educated 😂😂

fudgesmummy · 11/09/2020 22:48

We have a Will who is now 33.
He is William on his birth certificate but had been known as Will since he was about 11.
The only people who use his full name are his grandparents and strangely his sister 😁

DipSwimSwoosh · 12/09/2020 21:53

It's my favourite name.
