Favourite neutral names

We are expecting our first in October and haven't found out the sex. Really struggling with names and just haven't found anything that the both of us love. We have a handful of names for boys and girls but feel pretty luke warm to them!

Would be amazing if we could find a neutral name that would work for either. I do like Robin/Robyn for a boy or girl so anything along those lines. Nothing too wacky but up for any inspo at this point please!

Most names aren't completely neutral. They're classed as "Neutral" but usually used for either boys or girls.

Robin/Robyn is one of the only examples really. Lovely name.

Wren is nice but more commonly used for girls.
Ellis is a gorgeous name but predominantly used for boys. Blake too!

You might like the name Aubrey for either a boy or girl?

Rowan also unisex but the name is too similar to very popular name Roman for me. I prefer Rowan for a girl (it's a girls name in Scotland and becoming so in America too looking at the statistics but is still holding up as boy name in England for the time being at least but suspect that could change perhaps, we'll see).

I suppose it's like Hillary or other names that started off boys' name but then transition.

It can be more of a risk to pick a unisex name for a boy than for a girl. I know that's unfair obviously. Robin or Robyn is a good one as there's a clear spelling differentiation.

Rory for a boy or Aurora (nickname Rory) for a girl?

Thanks @Whatsyourflava totally true, the only other one I have come up with which feels really "neutral" is Alex (Alexander/Alexandra) but my DH isn't keen.

Agree, on Rowan, I don't mind it but prefer Robin and our friends just had a little baby Roman!

Not that keen on Aubrey or Ellis. Undecided on Blake - will moot to DH!

Remi/Remy is nice and fairly neutral

Remy seems to be the preference for boys and Remi for girls

Thanks for all these. Lesley/Leslie is a family name (both boys and girls) but I can't stand it personally.

It sounds like you don’t actually want a unisex name, more that you’re not inspired by the girl and boy names you have come up with.
