Middle name help!

Hello! My partner and I are going to be calling our baby Hebe if they are a girl. They will have a double-barrelled surname (three syllables- two syllables).

We are struggling to think of middle names. Given that Hebe is quite unusual, and our two surnames together will be quite long, we are stuck.

I slightly detest one syllable names like Rose, May and Rae as middle names (but am open to persuasion!). Names we have thought of are Madeleine, Clementine, Emmeline.

Any suggestions welcome (but no hate on the name Hebe, please)!

Hebe is nice
I know someone will suggest Jeebies

I think you should have a nice classic middle name like Victoria or Elizabeth

Twizbe · 10/09/2020 16:13

I'd second something like Elizabeth or Jane or Victoria or similar classic.

Hebe is quite out there and a simple middle name will give them options as an adult.

Hebe Madeleine Donaldson-Taylor (or whatever) works nicely. Are you looking for shorter middle names? Honestly I think 3 syllables works fine, though she may struggle with spaces on forms I suppose.

Champy87 · 10/09/2020 16:18

My first thought was Grace when I read Hebe and then double-barrelled surname but then I think this would fall into your dislike for one syllable names. I've added longer names below;

Hebe Meredith
Hebe Penelope
Hebe Hermione
Hebe Genevieve
Hebe Valentina
Hebe Arabella
Hebe Isabella
Hebe Elizabeth
Hebe Marcella

For what its worth, I knew a Hebe loosely and she was very cool so no hate for Hebe from me.

Actually I'll suggest Hebe Beatrix too as I think it's beautiful and another quirky name but not as outthere as the wonderful Hebe

I still think something short will work best - but agree Rose, Mae etc are very overused. How about?

Hebe Jean is lovely.

is the surname G...-B...

Flappingflamingo · 10/09/2020 21:18

I know you said no to one syllable names but hebe faye sounds lovely to me.
Have to admit though, I've never come across anyone with this name so I'm pronouncing it in my head as he-be ie as spelt. Is that correct?

Orphlids · 10/09/2020 22:43

Hebe Hope sounds rather good. One syllable, just to annoy you. Hebe is a smashing name!
