You can't be Sirius?

SpangleBug · 28/08/2020 10:06

It's awful.

newmum332 · 28/08/2020 10:45

Cyrus is better

TheFoz · 28/08/2020 10:46

I read that as Sinus. That would be a no from me.

BrowncoatWaffles · 28/08/2020 10:48

Remus?

twirlywooly · 28/08/2020 10:56

As a stand alone name I think it sounds nice but for the reasons already outlined so far I just don't think it works. You'd be setting up the child for serious/Sirius, Siri or HP references and comments through life. Shame as think it's a nice name.

SirSamuelVimesBlackboardMonito · 28/08/2020 11:00

Nooooo. Dear god no.

You want a Potter reference, call him Harry or James or Fred or George or something.

BumholeJ · 28/08/2020 11:02

I love it. I’ve just had twins - Albus and Severus.

022828MAN · 28/08/2020 11:04

Are you sirius?

SirSamuelVimesBlackboardMonito · 28/08/2020 11:05

@BumholeJ

I love it. I’ve just had twins - Albus and Severus.
I do hope this is a joke... If so, Grin.
AriesTheRam · 28/08/2020 11:06

Cant you just use Dumbledore?

Topseyt · 28/08/2020 11:09

No!

Surely you can't be Sirius serious.

There seems to be a trend for at least considering the more off-the-wall names from the Harry Potter books for some reason. They are OK in situ in the stories, but not really as a child's actual name.

Someone was wanting Albus yesterday.

Janaih · 28/08/2020 11:10

Christ on a bike, no.

takenbywine · 28/08/2020 11:12

I read it as sinus

oldstripeyNEWname1 · 28/08/2020 11:20

Your baby, your way.

I'm just saying, by dc2 I was horrified at the names I'd shortlisted for dc1. By dc3 I realised pregnancy hormones have a lot to be responsible for.

Your child will live with that name for the next 100 years, way longer than it's probably going to look cool, or cute or topical.

But, as I say, your baby, your way.

FAQs · 28/08/2020 11:23

Hey Siri... every five seconds in the playground.

AHippoNamedBooBooButt · 28/08/2020 11:25

As a middle name? Go for it. Not sure as a first name - what happens if your dc hates Harry Potter?

Frlrlrubert · 28/08/2020 11:27

My cat is named Sirius, and yes, my DM calls him 'Siri'.

ResIpsaLoquiturInterAlia · 28/08/2020 11:29

No. You can't be serious with Sirus, Sinus or Siri? Possibly if a budding weather reporter or meteorologist perhaps?

Mummiepig · 28/08/2020 11:33

What about Dementor, or Patronus? Use Sirius as the middle name

namenerd · 28/08/2020 11:38

Harry potter connotations aside, it does sound a lot like 'serious' also which may cause some trouble 😂 How about Cyrus, Darius or Silas?

Bluntness100 · 28/08/2020 11:38

Personally I Prefer hagrid...🤣

Lulu1919 · 28/08/2020 11:40

They might get Serious ...

TeenPlusTwenties · 28/08/2020 11:42

Harry James or Lily Hermione or Virginia Margaret or Neville Ronald

CoronaBollox · 28/08/2020 12:27

Not a Harry Potter fan but a big Heath ledger fan. He was great as the joker.
