Mine is fairly common.

Rare. DD1 there were 5 with her name last year, DD2 isn't on the list her name is so rare and DS there were 100 children with his name last year. That's about double when he was born but it is very popular in MN which is concerning me a lot.

I'm not English and my DC all have names that are popular where I'm from. So they go from a world where everyone thinks there name is unusual to a place where they meet people of all ages with their name.

QueenBlueberries · 28/08/2020 21:59

Two DSs. Very well known names but not that 'common' (never had another boy in their class with same name).

OhTheRoses · 28/08/2020 22:21

What's quite interesting is that dd has a classic name, quite often used in the late 90's. We paired it with an uncommon middle name. Subsequently we have come across at least three others with the same uncommon middle name.!!!

PeterPomegranate · 28/08/2020 22:27

Son 1‘s name is outside top 100 but is a name you would know. It’s more often a surname than a first name.

Son 2’s name is just inside top 30. Very classic. Never the most popular but well known.

Son 1 hates his name according to him. I hope he changes his mind. Son 2 is too young to have an opinion.

I'm guessing Rebecca?

DD1- very uncommon usually 3-6 babies every year with her name
DS- also a name that hovers at the bottom of the chart for boys but is unisex and slightly more popular for girls
DD2- very very uncommon, only ever made the charts once in the past 20 years. It’s not even outlandish, it’s an older perfectly average name from a fairly popular children’s book and more recently a TV show of said book.

OhTheRoses · 28/08/2020 22:43

Absolutely not Rebecca Grin

Quackersandcheese3 · 28/08/2020 23:01

Both my kids have uncommon names

RightOnTheEdge · 28/08/2020 23:06

My dds is quite common. She was one of three in her primary school but the only one now the others moved on.

My dcs is uncommon in this country. My exP is Brazilian so i think the name would be pretty common there and in Portugal but I've never known another one here.

MonsterRehab23 · 29/08/2020 01:43

DS fairly common. Was popular late 2000s when I had him. Now fallen out of top 100. DD extremely uncommon- only about 4 girls called this in 25 years. The name itself is very similar to very popular girls names though (about one letter difference). MN may think it’s yoonique Grin, but it’s actually an old name and used more frequently internationally. Also the name of a YouTuber and a US actress. I found a baby name book given to me when I was expecting DS and surprising found DD’s name in there.

morefun · 29/08/2020 10:36

One has a more unusual name, the other has a classic Biblical name

JellyfishandShells · 29/08/2020 10:43

Both relatively uncommon, though there are some quite similar versions about - they were resentful of this at the age when collecting key rings or door plaques appealed and their names were never on the racks !

Crunchymum · 29/08/2020 12:21

DS is top 30 and DD are both just in top 100.

micc · 29/08/2020 16:58

Uncommon but now becoming more common!! Which annoys me haha

jess3817 · 29/08/2020 22:01

My 3 DS names have fairly middle of the road names I think? Not traditional but not too out there. A friend once said she thought of them like Australian suffer type names 😂
My Dd has a really unusual name and I've not come across one before.

BakewellGin1 · 29/08/2020 22:06

DS2 was ranked #2481 in the Year he was born and is now #2136

DS1 was ranked #50 in the Year he was born and at present is #78

BoggiesBonnieBelle · 30/08/2020 03:00

All three have top 20 first names and very uncommon middle names. We thought that would give them a choice when they were older. Although their first names are very common, they have never had classmates with the same name, which has surprised me.

SumAndSubstance · 30/08/2020 10:08

DS1: Three or Four born a year in England and Wales. After he was born, I saw an article which predicted it would be one of the new hipster names, but clearly they were wrong!
DS2: Hovers around the top 100. It's a normal, but not particularly common name.

JosephineDeBeauharnais · 30/08/2020 10:14

Two adult DSs, both have names that were rarely used when they were born but are top ten now, verging on unusably common.

Angelina82 · 30/08/2020 10:34

My boys all have pretty common/classic names and my girls have slightly more unusual names. I’m not one for following trends but I like what I like.

weebarra · 30/08/2020 10:40

DS1 - common classic top 10 name
DS2 - very uncommon, outwith top 100, various spellings
DD - increasingly common, now top 10 (in England, we are in Scotland). Only 3 in her 400 pupil school though.

BingoGo · 30/08/2020 10:44

They are both in top 50 (in Denmark) however only one is common in the UK while I'm not sure the other actually exists in the UK 🤔

AHippoNamedBooBooButt · 30/08/2020 10:46

Dc1 - common when born but you wouldn't see many babies given this name today
Dc2 - neither really. Normal, classic name that you will consistently get at least 1 in a school or know of one but not hugely common that there are loads, like one in each class.
Dc3 - uncommon, though I hear it more now. Became very trendy after he was born.
Dc4 - very common.

MondeoFan · 30/08/2020 10:48

DC1 id never heard of the name or knew anyone named it but is fairly popular now.
DC2 uncommon but not unusual

BikeTyson · 30/08/2020 10:49

Neither. It’s top 100, just about so 500 ish named that last year. I don’t think that makes it common (others may disagree) in the context of the entire population. My name is quite common now but was very uncommon when I was born.
