Mine is fairly common.

One wasn't common 25 years ago but now it is very common.
One is a classic.
One is lovely, not unheard of but not massively popular.

DD’s is around half way down the top 100 last year, which I’m surprised at as I haven’t met any others and people don’t seem to comment that it’s a nice name, in a way that sounds like they don’t hear it a lot.

First child extremely uncommon (we knew it wasn't common but didn't realise how unusual it was... Only 3 born in dc year of birth!)

Second child I'm not sure... Not particularly common but definitely not top 20, probably not top 50.

DS1 uncommon
DS2 Fairly common
DD Somewhere inbetween the two boys

DS1 - no not common at all.

DS2 - didn't think it was that common but is in the 60's on the top 100 baby names list.

One child not very common nationally, but there are two others in her secondary school. The other child has a family name that is also not common nationally but much more common in parts of Europe.
My DH and his sibling have names that were very uncommon when they were born, but are pretty common now, name fashions are always in flux. I rather regret not giving one of my dc my mother’s name. Very uncommon for my generation and for children now, but pretty common for my mother’s generation.

For his age group it's very common.

I never liked having a more unusual name myself and wanted DS to have a more popular name. I didn't realise until he started school just how popular it was !

There are about 10 - 15 per year that are given the same name as DS.

MooseBreath · 07/09/2020 22:17

Uncommon. There were only 5 babies born in the UK with his name in 2018.

DS1 was in the top 40 for his year. I have noticed it has become a little more popular recently, probably due a film that came out in the past five years (which is how we discovered it ourselves). I haven't met another kid with his name as yet, but I have seen it on kids in popular soaps. It seems to be slowly on the decline but is still top 50.

DS2's name was in the top 100 for his year, but at the lower end. I've never met anyone with his name before, old or young. I checked the stats for our district and year and there are five other boys out there with his name, meaning there's a small possibility there might be another in his primary school class and quite the chance there will be others in his high school year. It's still my favourite name though so I don't really mind if there are others 🙂

Ours are quite uncommon for their age groups, I guess 50-150 per year? But not uncommon names for grown ups these days.
