Given that it was revealed Mabel the singer was bringing the name back into fashion , what celeb or famous person would you use for inspiration?

Elizabeth. Soooo many Elizabeths in history that there are bound to be some cool ones. And if the inspiration turned out to be "problematic" (everyone has done or said something bad at some point) then I can switch "inspiration" Wink. Or Lucy Worsley or Jacinda Ardern.

Maybe Francis for a boy. Or William.

Romilly

Romilly Weeks, the newsreader

TwizzledTurkey · 27/08/2020 11:27

Stevie for a girl (obviously Stevie Nicks)

JamieLeeCurtains · 27/08/2020 11:29

Eric for a boy
Cantona for a girl

RuthW · 27/08/2020 12:15

Eric after Cantona but she was a girl

sashh · 27/08/2020 12:19

Valentina after Tereshkova - the first woman in space

Or Ada after Ada Lovelace

weebarra · 27/08/2020 12:26

Hedy after Hedy Lamarr or Ada after Ada Lovelace

@weebarra

Hedy after Hedy Lamarr or Ada after Ada Lovelace
Hedy has been on my list for ages partly thanks to her but I'm not sure I'll be brave enough to use it...

I like Mila (as in Kunis) and Sienna (as in Miller) - but just because I like the names, not as a homage to either Smile

Magicbabywaves · 27/08/2020 12:58

Iris Murdoch
Agatha Christie

Namechange8471 · 27/08/2020 12:59

Karl, after Karl Marx

TempsPerdu · 27/08/2020 13:31

Not exactly celebs, but:

Vita Sackvile-West
Daphne du Maurier
Rosa Parks/Luxemburg

All great namesakes and I love their names. Probably William for a boy as there are so many of them! Or Laurie (Little Women) if I was allowed a book character! Smile

namenerd · 28/08/2020 00:41

I think that Hendrix after Jimi Hendrix for a boy is so lovely!

Also ,for girls, I love the name Halle after Halle Berry- although I would probably spell it as Hallie and Margot after Margot Robbie but probably would spell it without the 't' :).

Roger Taylor. The name Roger really, really needs to come back. No, honest - it really does.

JanewaysBun · 28/08/2020 07:10

I almost called DD judy as in garland

And Yes really like Roger

JanewaysBun · 28/08/2020 07:12

@tempsperdu I really wanted DD to be Daphne as love love DDM and am still genuinely gutted DH hated the name Sad

lynsey91 · 28/08/2020 07:14

Marc. I was a big fan of Marc Bolan and I think the name looks so much nicer spelt with a C than a K

Joolsin · 28/08/2020 19:56

Spike after Spike Milligan (I know his real name was Terence, but wouldn't be going there!)
I like Vita too, as a pp suggested

TheFutureIs · 28/08/2020 20:02

Rosalind Franklin
Vivienne Westwood
Beatrix Potter

BrogerMaylor · 28/08/2020 21:05

Francis/Frances after Francis Rossi

Also a fan of Roger too 😁

Standrewsschool · 28/08/2020 21:20

Bjorn - Bjorn Borg - always wanted a Scandinavian name, and Bjorn Borg was a huge star. Still feel a little gutted I never used it. Name a teddy Bjorn instead.

LM2098 · 28/08/2020 21:32

Love Karen gillian but not keen 9n the name would probably use one of her character names, perhaps Ruby from jumanji or one of Helena Bonham carter's characters

Tillygetsit · 28/08/2020 23:40

None but I have a dog named Huey after Huey Morgan because he's a fun loving criminal.

Twizbe · 29/08/2020 07:27

Kinda did when we named our daughter Cerys.

Cerys Matthews is pretty awesome lol
