These are the names on our list ATM. We like them but nothing is jumping out as 'the one' yet. Could you give some feedback on the list and add to the list with names you think we may like? In no particular order...

Edward
Joseph
Elliot
Ruan
Abel
Gabriel

TIA xxx

Was about to post Edward before seeing it's actually first on your list.

Edward, Joseph and Elliot are my favourites from your list. Well, I really like Abel too but I recognise that it's far less popular and more polarising.

I think Gabriel is nice but I'm not a fan of Gabe which is the usual nickname.

I have never actually heard Ruan before. Where is it from?

Onekidnoclue · 25/08/2020 13:25

Think about the nicknames. I love Edward but don’t like Ed or Eddy so that knocked it off my list. I think Joseph is wonderful but have three close female friends called Jo and didn’t want a son called Joe.
Would Gabriel be Gabe? Abel Abe? Think about what they’d be called day to day.

Lavenderblues · 25/08/2020 13:29

I like Ruan and Elliott.

How about
Reuben
Quentin
Marcus

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 25/08/2020 13:54

I love Gabriel and Elliot. I quite like the sound of Ruan but it Makes me think of castle ruins, which freak me out (even though it's spelt differently).
I'm not too fussed on Abel Edward and Joseph

Other names you might like
Andrew. Alexander. Thomas. Charles. Ethan. David. William. George. Francis. Nathan. Rowan. Robin. Benjamin. Rueben. Simon. Adam. Christopher. Casper. Michael.

Tyingtheknot · 25/08/2020 16:53

Ruan is Cornish. I say like Roo-un.

Like the suggestions of Alexander and robin but DH isn't keen on them. Jonah is a good one too! Please keep posting xxx

I really like Edward. It was on our list for DS2 but we went with Albert instead. Not too keen on the rest from your list

alexdgr8 · 25/08/2020 17:09

Edward
Joseph
Gabriel
are all good. Abel came to a sticky end, see cain, so i'd avoid that.
others, Patrick, Robert, Hector, Theodore, Josiah, Douglas, Donald, Winston, Horace/ Horatio, joshua, Philip, Peter, Mark, Frederick.

good luck

Tyingtheknot · 25/08/2020 20:13

Theodore and Peter are good names, preference to Peter as Theodore/Theodora are a bit trendy ATM.

DH suggestions Alistair and Felix??

Edward - fine but not Ned or Ted(dy)
Joseph - fine
Elliot - Elliott seems a better spelling, but there's also Eliot. I was going to say I think it's a bit wet sounding but I know a really nice one.
Ruan - too many R names like Roman, Rowan, Rohan, Rory, Rufus, Reuben...
Abel - bodied seaman
Gabriel - no, Michael is so much nicer.

bridgetreilly · 25/08/2020 21:54

Edgar
Rufus

Tillygetsit · 25/08/2020 23:35

Joseph is my favourite from your list.

sunyla · 26/08/2020 00:02

Gabriel or Abel!

Since you like Abel, what about Abram?

areyoubeingserviced · 26/08/2020 00:11

Joseph
Edward
Elliot

Crazypie · 27/08/2020 16:00

I like Ruan, elliot and gabriel best from your list x

namenerd · 28/08/2020 00:33

I adore Elliot and Gabriel!
Some names you might like are: Elias/ Eli, Nathaniel (could be shortened to Nate), Ansel, Lowan, Jonah, Wilbur, Hugo and Conan.

17caterpillars1mouse · 28/08/2020 10:38

Edward - it's nice, but very popular in my area
Joseph - love it
Elliot - love it though prefer it spelt Elliott
Ruan - I considered this but decided it sounded too much like ruin. We had Rowan and Rohan on our list though
Abel - like. I've only come across it twice in the last 4 years
Gabriel - nice

I'll suggest

Dominic
Nicholas
Rafe

daisychain1620 · 28/08/2020 10:46

I love love love Gabriel and both Edward and Joseph are family names so these are my favourites from your list.
I like Edward shorted to Teddy.
I'm not fussed on Elliott (think there's too many in my area!)
My suggestions are Noah, Caleb, Issac

LouiseNW · 28/08/2020 10:47

Ryan, because it reminds me of home.

Don’t like Abel, sorry.

LouiseNW · 28/08/2020 10:49

Ruan not Ryan!
