Delilah or Ottilie?

We have a little Orla and we’re about 15 weeks off from our next little girl arriving. After lists and lists of names these are the top two that seem to be sticking. I like both but I’m also open to any new suggestions If you know any :)

Come to any naice MC area of London, and you will find multiple Ottilies in every nursery

I know so many Ottilie's, and it's always shortened to 'Ottie' which makes my toes curl.

We were thinking if we went for Ottilie we would use Tilly for short. See I don’t know anyone around here who’s even heard of the name Ottilie in fact everyone we’ve told so far looks at me as if I’ve made it up!

Absolutely love Delilah. Not a fan of Ottilie though, sorry.

Orla is also such a beautiful name!

@Leonora94 hadn't thought of the nickname Tilly! That's really really lovely. I really love both names and couldn't pick.

I really don't like Ottilie. It's come from nowhere and is so middle class pretentious. Delilah is quite nice.
I really like both Iris and Maeve and both go with Orla which is lovely.

I do like Tilly as a nickname, much nicer than Ottie!

That would put me off too then. Obviously it either hasn't reached the south west yet or I just don't have posh enough friends 😂

I do really like Tilly op, could you not just go for that by itself?

Tilly is generally a nickname for Matilda, which I think is a lovely name.

IMO Ottilie and Delilah will both date.

Push your dp on Maeve. It goes beautifully with Orla.

If you want to use Tilly (great name), if you put Ottilie on the birth certificate then she can choose to be Ottilie if she prefers it in full when older. I really love Tilly or Ottie and also love Delilah.

I wonder if you were subconsciously thinking of MOD’s twins when you thought of those two names?

I genuinely adore both names and think either would work so well. Although, Orla and Ottilie do sound like a cute pair- imagine writing that in cards 😍
Some suggestions you may like are: Amelie, Evelina, Edie, Evelyn and Ivy ❤

Just found this this old thread and it’s made me laugh. Very happy I didn’t choose Ottilie…still like Delilah though. Thought I’d update, we have a happy and wonderful 2 year old named Willow. Didn’t even think of the name until she was here and doesn’t really go with Orla, she just looked like a Willow!

I like Delilah but if you shortened to Ottie then I think that could be a good match, also:

Ahhh, Orla and Willow is so lovely! Absolute fab choice, congrats on your two daughters.

I have an 8yr old Delilah, she is the only one I know and gets so many compliments. I never think of bad things associated with her name and dont really care!
I also really liked Ottille but NN would be Tilly which is cute but not a unique name. I also really liked Arietty and Bessie
