Cant decide on which spelling for my baby girl. What do you think ladies??

As a shortening for Fenella, I'd say Fen. As a name in it's own right, I'd say neither.

daisypond · 25/08/2020 09:40

As in the Fens? I’d assume Fenn was male, probably because of Finn.

Glitterbiscuits · 25/08/2020 10:21

Fenton! Fenton!
It would just make me think of the crazy dog and deer.

Fenella is interesting though

Oneandabean · 25/08/2020 10:46

Is it a nickname for something? It looks unfinished. Made me think a bit of fearne

percheron67 · 25/08/2020 11:13

Fenella is great. Fen - weird, especially if you live in Cambridgeshire.

MikeUniformMike · 25/08/2020 11:35

Have you thought of naming her Slough, Bog or Marsh?

perfumeistooexpensive · 25/08/2020 11:39

Agree with the PPs. I immediately thought it was a boy’s name. Your DD won’t thank you when she has everyone making that assumption. If you love it, call her Fenella which is unusual and everyone knows it’s a girl.

VenusClapTrap · 25/08/2020 14:06

I really, really like it! Short, elegant nature name. Single ‘n’. Fen. Lovely.

Deardonkey · 25/08/2020 14:09

I initially thought Fenn but assumed it was for a boy, not sure Fenn also works for a girl so perhaps Fen.

daisypond · 25/08/2020 14:13

I actually don’t dislike Fen as a name. I’ve been thinking about it. The dictionary definition isn’t that inspiring with its description of low, boggy marshland, but in reality fens are beautiful.

Whenwillow · 25/08/2020 14:14

I like it. I thought girl from thread title. I'd go with Fen I think.

user1493494961 · 25/08/2020 14:16

My brother had a dog called Fen. I would assume Fen would be a boy, it's a bit bland either way.

Wheresthebiffer2 · 25/08/2020 20:00

Is it a name? Is it short for Fence?

bridgetreilly · 25/08/2020 21:55

Fern?

Mum2jenny · 25/08/2020 21:57

Fenella is ok, with nickname Fen, but I don’t really like it. Sorry!

Cheeeeislifenow · 25/08/2020 22:00

I like Fern!

Lebkuchenlove · 25/08/2020 22:08

Fenella is nice.

june2007 · 25/08/2020 22:09

Yes i have called a Fenella FEnn, very occasionally written it. Better then the other nick name "Nelly". Fenella is so much nicer or Finolla.

BeingATwatItsABingThing · 25/08/2020 22:10

Neither. I also assumed boy from the title because of how close it is to Finn.

SadSack39 · 25/08/2020 22:13

Fenn looks more complete as a name than Fen. I assumed for a boy though sorry.. its cute though

Lebkuchenlove · 25/08/2020 22:16

Fenn does not look complete imo Hmm

Fenella looks complete.

1990s · 25/08/2020 22:20

Fenn is a boys name.

Lebkuchenlove · 25/08/2020 22:24

Fenna is a girls name.

JoleneExotic · 25/08/2020 22:27

What about Ffehnn make it look kinda welsh innit. 🤣

AdaColeman · 25/08/2020 22:33

Fen, not as pretty as Quagmire, (nn Qua) but nicer than Swamp.
