What kind of names do you lean towards and what do you see as the pros/cons of each group? Feel free to share favourites.

Traditional as in - Emma, John, Charlotte, James, Robert, Catherine etc

Modern as in - Luna, Felix, Arabella, Arlo etc

Popular as in - (as of today) Olivia, Luca, Amelia, Theodore etc

Unpopular as in - (as of today) Ruth, Clive, Sally, Jeff etc

Unusual as in - (as of today) Cherry, Osmond, Winter, Conan etc

Obviously there are many cross overs and with time unusual/ unpopular names start to creep into and may even become wildly popular and overused and vis versa.

I like all the name groups with several favourites from each group.
For example -

Traditional - Beatrice/George/Henry
Pros - Timeless, my favourite name group!
Cons - Many will say boring/overused.

Modern (ish) - Marnie/Theo/Teddy
Pros - Tend to be ‘nice’ names.
Cons - Many become abit dated or ‘of their time’.

Popular - Sophia/Theodore (I actually don’t know a Theodore but I get told on MN that it is very popular)
Pros - Usually a reason why they are popular, generally lovely!
Cons - Overused, maybe.

Unpopular - Ernie
Pros - Not many baby’s with that name.
Cons - Many just aren’t nice, that’s why they are unpopular.

My family have very traditional names, my social circles do too. So I do like hearing unusual names, I’m just not ‘brave’ enough to use a name like Minnie or Sunday for example.

That's me. They are less likely to say what class you are, less likely to date, I've always liked most of them, less likely to be unusual.

Modern as in - Luna, Felix, Arabella, Arlo etc
Definitely not. It's one thing being one of 3 Marks in a class and another being one of 3 Arlos.

Popular as in - (as of today) Olivia, Luca, Amelia, Theodore etc
No, either I just dislike them or they are terribly overused.

Unpopular as in - (as of today) Ruth, Clive, Sally, Jeff etc
These are names of my friends or acquaintances.

Unusual as in - (as of today) Cherry, Osmond, Winter, Conan etc
No. There's a reason why they are unusual.
