So rainbow baby is coming in 2 days time but has had his name for a while.

Reasons:
The first name is the same as; disney prince in my favourite disney movie. And the first name of the main character in our favourite musical. The musical me and my husband fell in love to.

Secondly, in general the name is short and sweet. But is it a bit too....old man ish..? Lol

The babys name is: Eric.
Eric Andrew Fitzgerald (my husbands father was andy, andy passed away recently. Hence the middle name)

What do we think? Ive yet to find another baby called eric recently... it seems to have completely gone out of style lol..

If you know of ANYONE who has called their baby Eric recently PLEASE LET ME KNOW

:) xxx

Simon Cowell!!
Hasn't done his ds any harm!!

katie43210 · 22/08/2020 15:53

I actually like it.

newbiee · 22/08/2020 15:55

I love the name Eric (it's top of my baby name list)It's easy to spell, easy to say, strong, and a little unusual nowadays but not strange. I would say go for it. But in answer to your question, no I haven't heard the name on a baby, in fact haven't heard it on anyone for a while!

PlantPotting · 22/08/2020 15:59

It's perfect
I really love it and no it sounds fresh now not old man-ish

SpangleBug · 22/08/2020 16:00

Personally I think it's much more attractive spelled with a K. Erik seems much less of an old man's name to me than Eric, but regardless of spelling it is a very nice name.

Mumoftwo12345 · 22/08/2020 16:03

Lovely, there's an Eric in my dd's class (year2) he's a proper little gentleman

macaroniinapot · 22/08/2020 16:10

I think it's lovely and works really well with the middle name and surname. I know gentleman sort of names are very in, so it being one of the less common ones is a plus.

OnlyFoolsnMothers · 22/08/2020 16:11

I think Simon Cowell resurrected it and I quite like it

idril · 22/08/2020 16:12

I know 10 year old Eric. I like it definitely not too old-man-ish

Chickenitalia · 22/08/2020 16:23

I know a 3 year old Eric. He’s adorable. I can’t think of any negatives tbh, go ahead and use it if you love it. Congratulations!

HD98 · 22/08/2020 16:24

I quite like it. I met a little Eric. It was an unexpected name for him as I would usually expect it to be an older man. But it was quite sweet and grew on me. There's nothing wrong with it.

It's like Alec for me - I used to think 'old man' because of those I knew, but that's now one of my favourite baby names.

HD98 · 22/08/2020 16:27

The little Eric I know is 2!
Oh, and I knew others thought the same as me - that they were surprised at his name but no one seemed to have anything negative to say about it, if that helps.

Christmascrazyalways · 22/08/2020 16:30

I think it’s a beautiful name!! Hope all goes well Flowers

StringyPotatoes · 22/08/2020 16:35

Dave Gorman has an Eric too, I think.

The only Eric I have actually met is maybe about 5 or 6 now maybe even younger. He was a lovely kid and the name has grown on me ever since.

I love Eric, not too old man ish at all!

BikeRunSki · 22/08/2020 17:10

Eric - old man
Erik - Scandi cool

RowboatsinDisguise · 22/08/2020 17:11

Love it. It’s vintage without falling into the Ronnie, Reggie, Alfie, Archie trap.

TheRosariojewels · 22/08/2020 17:18

I like it.

Rookiegardener · 22/08/2020 17:40

My friend has a 9 month old Eric :). Named after a musician from hers and her partners favourite band. If you like it, go for it.

Orphlids · 22/08/2020 17:58

Eric is fabulous, although I agree with a couple of PP that Erik is a more attractive spelling. More rippling muscled Viking than elderly man in Marks and Sparks. But no, i don’t think Eric is too old man at all. I love it. I can’t imagine a horrible Eric. Great choice!

Mashingthecompost · 22/08/2020 17:59

There's a little boy near us with that name. He's full of fun, a cool little guy. Parents are kinda... quirky, down to earth, rough around the egdes but friendly.

zigaziga · 22/08/2020 17:59

I don’t love the name enough to use but nothing against it at all. I can’t think of a reason not to use it.

Thisismytimetoshine · 22/08/2020 18:01

Agree with this.
