sorry, not exactly baby name related, but i'm thinking of changing my name, and i'm stuck on what it should be! i've got my heart set on something short, sophisticated and beautiful, but i just can't find quite the right name. my favourite so far is ana but i'm worried about mispronounciation (i want it to be said ah-na but i'm worried people will pronounce it ar-na or or-na). so, tell me your all time favourite female names! Smile

I have an aunt called Ana as she's Swedish. Even my mother calls her Anna. She said she's given up getting people to province it right. I'd choose something else if the pronounciation matters so much. Elizabeth? Helen? Victoria?

Sorry you said short.

Phoebe
Anne
Zoe

@Annist ah, that's a shame. i really like it, and i suppose i could just correct them if someone pronounce it wrong, but i'm moving to a foreign country so i do want something 'easy' to pronounce Smile

Anne- a so not what you'd really be hoping from unfortunately.
I do love Anna and I also love Alice.

sugagii · 20/08/2020 15:48

Matilda is my favourite name, I was hoping if we had a girl (we don't) we'd use it but my husband hates it!

SybillaB · 20/08/2020 15:58

How about Claire or Jane?

Spied · 20/08/2020 16:00

I'd spell it Anna OP. I think you're more likely to get the pronunciation that you don't want with the spelling Ana.
I do know people who (unlikely me)pronounce Ana as On-a ( like the Frozen movie).

I like those three classic names you've mentioned, my favourite being 'Elizabeth'.
