Personally not keen, but maybe it's an age thing. It was my sister's nickname growing up. 4 girls in our family named Prune, Pearl, Beryl and Boo. Pearl was seen as an old lady's name (this was the 1970s). I suppose now older names have come back into fashion.

I know a Pearl in her 80s and one that is a year old. Love it.

Awful geriatric name.

I know three Pearls. Two of them in their early 50s and one teenager. I’ve known one of them all my life so it isn’t an unusual name to me but I don’t like it much tbh. It should be a pretty name, like Rose for instance, yet it isn’t. It has a similar feel to the name Julie or Amanda to me.
