I wouldn’t spell it like that. I’ve seen Lynsey, Lyndsey and Linzi. As for nicknames Lin and Z .

Thisismytimetoshine · 18/08/2020 23:42

That is not how you spell it, for a start.

MeanMrMustardSeed · 18/08/2020 23:44

Looks like a typo

ThighthighOfthigh · 18/08/2020 23:45

It's Lindsay surely?

NC4Now · 18/08/2020 23:46

Does it have a family connection? It feels a bit 70s to me.

backseatcookers · 18/08/2020 23:46

Ooh it's a lovely name but I would never think to spell it like that by default so your little one might have a life of having to explain the spelling. Not the biggest issue but a pain in the arse for them probably!

TenShortStories · 18/08/2020 23:48

I'd spell it Lindsay, although I'm not a particular fan. For a girl or boy?

mrsbyers · 18/08/2020 23:49

It looks like someone had gone to register the birth but hasn’t been able to spell it correctly - go for something different if you want originality but making up a variation of a pretty standard name looks odd

MonsterRehab23 · 18/08/2020 23:51

Went to school with Linzi, Lindsay, Lynsey and Linsay. I think Linzi looks best

Lindsey, Linzi or Lyndsey is a girl. Usually born in the 1980s.

Lindsay is a boy. Born anytime after 1960.

Which were you aiming for?

sodalite · 18/08/2020 23:52

I knew someone who spelt it this way and thought it was a nice name but open to better spelling suggestions.

DramaAlpaca · 18/08/2020 23:53

The traditional spelling is Lindsey for a girl.

Lindsay is the male version, from the Scottish surname.

It's one of those names that has countless spelling versions. It's very dated though, unless you're looking for a 60s/70s vibe.

MrsEricBana · 18/08/2020 23:53

Linzi? No.
Lindsay is how I'd spell it. Ok name but I think v dated, sorry.

MrsEricBana · 18/08/2020 23:54

(To me it sounds same era as Denise)

sodalite · 19/08/2020 00:00

No family connection at all, I just liked it for a girl. Not sure about nn though or if it needs one?
I liked Lucy but someone in the family beet me to it so I was looking for something similar and thought of Linsey.

DoTheMaccaroni · 19/08/2020 00:02

I’ve never liked it. Not one version of it. And there are way too many spellings!

EmmaGrundyForPM · 19/08/2020 00:05

It's a unisex name but not spelled like that. I quite like it for a boy, not so keen for a girl.

sodalite · 19/08/2020 00:14

This is why I thought I'd ask mn so I would get honest answers and not just friends pretending they love it.
I suppose it's quite dated but maybe I liked it because I haven't heard it for a while but I can't think of any nn that isn't Lin or Linz or just "L"/Elle.

TenShortStories · 19/08/2020 00:21

Well seeing as the negative association is entirely down to it be of a particular era then I guess it would fine, and everyone would quickly make a new, current association with a lovely little girl. That happened for me with the little Brian in my Dds class!

I actually prefer Lindy, which is very similar.

sodalite · 19/08/2020 01:05

The other names we thought of were

Anne
Elle
Leigh

LightDrizzle · 19/08/2020 01:15

A family member is Lindsey, not shortened. She occasionally gets Linz, from people who’ve just met her.
I do think it’s dated although the sound is nice. I always think of Lindsey Corkhill from Brookside unfortunately but that will mean nothing to your daughter’s generation.

twinklyeyes · 19/08/2020 01:17

I know a Linzie who goes by the nn Lizzie.

Marcipex · 19/08/2020 01:36

Lindis is very pretty.

EuphieKat · 19/08/2020 05:29

My SIL is a Lindsay; she always has to correct people on the spelling as it’s considered the male version where she lives.
