Me and DW have decided to have a Thomas/Tom for DS1, but what do people think about Aiden for the middle name with it? Thanks Smile

Really like it. I would switch them round but then I'm not a top ten name sort of person.

napody · 08/08/2020 18:58

Really like it.

cptartapp · 08/08/2020 18:58

I'd spell it Aidan, but not keen.

daisypond · 08/08/2020 20:02

Very nice. But I’d spell it Aidan too.

Joolsin · 08/08/2020 20:28

Agree it should be Aidan

june2007 · 08/08/2020 20:36

Aidan for spelling for me but good name.

orangejuicer · 08/08/2020 20:38

Like it, but what's the first letter of your surname?

Mrsbclinton · 08/08/2020 20:39

Lovely names but I would spell it Aidan

DramaAlpaca · 08/08/2020 21:36

It's nice, but spell Aidan correctly.

Onestepup · 08/08/2020 21:40

I like both. I'd use the Aidan spelling.

TedSmith · 08/08/2020 21:52

A lot of people prefer the Aidan spelling - me and DW both think the Aiden spelling just looks better so we won’t be changing that.

@orangejuicer clue is in my Mumsnet username lmao.

@DramaAlpaca both are valid spellings.

Fortunately it's only his middle name or he would spend his life correcting people who have spelt his name incorrectly. Thomas is great. Not keen on Aidan and Aiden is even worse.

orangejuicer · 08/08/2020 22:19

Ted got it! That should be ok then.

DramaAlpaca · 08/08/2020 23:18

@TedSmith I agree that Aiden is a valid spelling, but it's the Americanised version. Aidan is the usual version in the UK & Ireland. Of course it's fine if it's the spelling you prefer.

Actually, the 'correct' spelling is the original Irish Aodhán Wink

TedSmith · 09/08/2020 09:12

@Chattercino if we spelt it “Aidan” I think he would, as I know three Aidens and then another Aidan who gets his name spelt “Aiden” by mistake. The spelling “Aiden” seems more common from where I come from tbh.

@DramaAlpaca that is a good point lmao.
