Are these names suitable for all ages?!?

DH loves both - I much prefer Archie

They're suitable for cute little puppies.

Both great names I think. Very now but not in a bad way. I considered Archie ( had all dds) but not Alfie only because I have many friends with Alfies.

Yes DH had a great uncle Arch (he was just Archie) so to him it is a name for all ages.

Archie has the edge I think. Love it. What about Archie Alfred? If I'd had a son ( 3 DDs here and done) he would have been Archie Alexander ( Alexander is my dad's name) as I love a bit of alliteration!

Archie I would go for archer or Archibald, Archie seems great on a small child, not so sure on an adult male. Although Prince Harry and Megan didn’t seem to agree with my opinion

Alfie, I do like this and again would probably go for Alfred as his full name, but he also has the option of Alf for when he’s older, again I think Alfie is great for a small child, not so sure on a 30 year old lawyer.

I don't think either of them are very grown up sounding.

I dislike Archie intensely and Archibald is even worse.

Alfie is OK if short for the more dignified Alfred. I prefer Alf to Alfie.

I much prefer Archie. I've known a few Alfie's and they've all been badly behaved

I love both but do agree that Archie has a bit of an edge. However both work for all ages x

Both are quite cutesy if just standalone - also very popular.

I’d definitely go with a longer Archer/Archibald/Alfred name on BC.

That being said, in 30 years’ time when there are hundreds of Alfie’s and Archie’s in the workplace, maybe it won’t seem so much of a cutesy nickname.

I must admit, I'm not a fan. I hear both names shouted across parks everywhere I go and most of the ones I know are little buggers. Sorry!

They're both everywhere. Their Mums are usually screechers

Alfie and Archie are cute names for a small fluffy 🐶 puppy! Or a baby boy.

But please give your son a proper grown up name eg Alfred or Archibald.

Personally I think there are far nicer names around!

Both very twee and childish sounding. Cute for a toddler maybe.

Alfred is ok but I wouldn't shorten to Alfie personally.

No, I find them very cutesy and suit for a small boy at best. And Archibald or Archer are awful imo.

There are much more classy and strong names around.

They are both perfectly acceptable names but both have had huge increases in popularity in the past 20 years so they are definitely names that will be associated with a particular generation (the 2000-2020 equivalent of Jason/Darren)

I've nothing personal against either but prefer names that are a bit more timeless

There is an Alfie living down the road from me, his Mum is always telling him off, when she walks by our house.

We have an Alfie next door. Both he and his parents enjoy screeching.

They will probably date badly!

I hate them both. So overused, cutesy and twee.

At least give the child the full name in case they want to use it in future.

I think they’re fine but will both date badly.

I do not get them dating badly as Archie has actually been around for years..
As I said my DH great uncle Arch is 80

both too cutesy and very unoriginal imo.

I think by dating, PP means that you can easily tell how old most Archies will be.

It is likely that the vast majority of Archies are under 10 currently, compared to a name like James for example which you cannot “date” to one decade or period of time.
