Still really struggling....

I’m expecting a little girl and it’s now quickly approaching as I’m less than 10 weeks to go.

I have posted before but still would like some help/opinions because nothing feels quite right.

I’m down to Grace or Aurelia as first names. I would actually like Gracie as a first but it may be a little to twee?
Evelyn would be the middle.

My reason for not having Evelyn as the first as I’m really not a fan of Evie so I just don’t think this could be avoided.

As well as opinions on Grace/Aurelia are there any other suggestions that would be of a similar style? I do very much like Ivy but a friend has a daughter with this name otherwise that would be a front runner too.
Thank you 😊

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

There’s an Evelyn in my class at school and she’s never Evie. I’ve never even thought about shortening it and nobody else does. But then again, she pronounces it Ev-er-lyn and not Eev-lyn. I suppose if you use the latter pronunciation, it’s more liable to become Evie.
Tbh I find Aurelia more twee than Gracie.

Suggestions:
Everly
Audrey
Margot
Lorelei
Gwyneth
Eliza
Connie
Ophelia
Octavia

Both Grace and Aurelia are lovely
You can call her Gracie day to day but I'd put Grace on birth certificate

How about
Aria
Mila
Nina
Pearl

Grace Evelyn. Aurelia is getting trendy.

Flappingflamingo · 06/08/2020 10:44

Really don't like Aurelia, I don't understand why it's so popular 🤔
On the other hand I love both Grace and Evelyn, Grace is one of my daughters middle name and my nan was evelyn so I'm biased

LarkDescending · 06/08/2020 10:45

Grace nn Gracie is lovely.

Prettylittlelady · 06/08/2020 11:51

Do you think Aurelia is really rising in popularity- out of interest - how would you pronounce it?
I do think I am leaning towards Grace but to be known as Gracie. I really would like to use Gracie as a full name though but I understand what people say about using Grace on the BC.

Aurelia has suddenly become much more popular. Graph here, based on UK government England and Wales official statistics:
names.darkgreener.com/#aurelia

It is originally an Italian name. You can hear Italian people saying it here:
forvo.com/search/Aurelia/ They say 'Ow-ray-li-uh'

Prettylittlelady · 06/08/2020 12:54

Thank you @florascotia2 I was actually really sure it was a Latin name but I may be mistaken.

OP posts:
florascotia2 · 06/08/2020 13:01

Yes it it is Latin, OP, but no-one speaks Latin today, as a general rule. And when it is spoken, Latin pronunciation is influenced by modern local languages.

In terms of modern languages spoken today, I think it's fair to say that Aurelia 'belongs' to Italian, which is of course as we all know directly descended from Latin.

florascotia2 · 06/08/2020 13:05

As you probably already know, OP, Aurelia was the name of Julius Caesar's mother! She came from a powerful Roman family and was said to be wise and intelligent. She was greatly respected.

A good role model for a daughter, perhaps!

chubbyhotchoc · 06/08/2020 13:15

Grace is better than Aurelia. Don't like that at all

PixieDust1986 · 06/08/2020 13:26

My daughter is Evelyn Grace. Always Evelyn. Never Evie.
(Pronounced Ev-er-lyn).

AntiAuntieAnty · 06/08/2020 14:33

I know a Grace who is ALWAYS Gracie, except on forms, at the docs etc. It is a well used, but beautiful name imo.

Aurelia, I am less keen on, as I find it a bit flouncy / matronly and a bit of a mouthful. I know two children named Aurelia, so I would say it is less popular than Grace. So if popularity is your mane concern, then I'd go with Aurelia.

AntiAuntieAnty · 06/08/2020 14:34

I also don't think Evie is inevitable at all with Evelyn. All the Evies I know have Evie on the BC afaik and all the Evelyns I know just get Evelyn.
