My Husband and I are expecting a girl in December and we've found three names we really like, but aren't really sure on which one to choose. We both think they're beautiful names, but we'd like other people's opinions. The names we're deciding between are Martina/Martyna, Stevie and Mikayla. What are your opinions?

congratulations! My favourite out of your 3 is Mikayla, then Martina. I don't like Stevie (sorry!)

Martina - nice
Stevie - nice
Mikayla - dislike

RandomTree · 05/08/2020 20:57

Martina is my favourite

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 05/08/2020 21:01

I like Stevie. Mikayla is okay.Martina is awful.

LouiseTrees · 05/08/2020 21:05

Not Stevie (Maybe a middle name?) and isn’t it spelled Michaela? I like it if spelled like that. Martina is a nice name too.

NoemiaElara · 05/08/2020 21:11

I don't really like any of them sorry. They all feel a bit dated to me. If I had to choose maybe Michaela but spelt this way. It seems a very 80's/90's name to me though as thee was a lot in my age group. Stevie and Martina (she will get called Tina) are both awful.

FourPlasticRings · 05/08/2020 21:25

I've only ever seen Michaela spelled like that. Like Michael with an a on the end. I'd wonder if spelling it Mikayla was an attempt to be yoonique. I do think other people have spelled it that way in the past though.

AntiAuntieAnty · 05/08/2020 22:02

I like Stevie best. It's one of those names where I prefer the shortened version to the longer one, which I guess would be Stephanie.

It also makes me think of Stevie Nicks, who I think is quite cool.

Marlena1 · 05/08/2020 22:06

I love Stevie! The baby in "the let down" (which was brill) was Stevie. Love Christmassy names too for December babies though!

AntiAuntieAnty · 05/08/2020 22:11

Marlena, do you mean because Stevie is a bit like Stephen which is a Christmassy name?

AntiAuntieAnty · 05/08/2020 22:12

I also love Noelle. Reminds me of Teenage Dirtbag Grin. Am I showing my age there?

NotSoFlatStanley · 05/08/2020 22:37

I’m a mid-40’s Mikaela and it’s been a pain having to spell my name out for what seems like forever. I don’t dislike my name, but do wish it was spelt Michaela. I like Martina too, but spelt the traditional way. Am not keen on Stevie.

123Dancewithme · 05/08/2020 23:07

Martina! Stevie is ok, but Mikayla is awful. Please spell it Michaela if you use it.

Marlena1 · 06/08/2020 07:54

@AntiAuntieAnty no, I hadn't actually made that connection. I just always wanted a Decemeber baby so I could call her something Christmassy (very childish I know!)

Ah, it probably is a slightly tenuous connection tbh and me massively overthinking Blush!

Marlena1 · 06/08/2020 15:51

@AntiAuntieAnty no I think it's actually brilliant! In Ireland, we don't have boxing day, we have Stephen's Day on 26th! Love name links!

AnnaSW1 · 06/08/2020 22:52

Of your list I'd go for Martina.
