I don't think so, it's not try hard posh or anything, it's just a beautiful Greek name. I grew up knowing a lovely lady called Artemis, she was such a kind and gentle person.

I know a couple of Artemesias. Albanian and Italian. Works there, sounds pretentious otherwise.

Why would an old Greek name like Artemis be any more 'pretentious' than say Penelope or Alexandra?

Not pretentious at all. It's a lovely Greek name. Can't fathom why we would consider foreign names as pretentious.

Oh I absolutely love it.

The Artemis Fowl film has sunk without a trace (it got a lockdown release on Disney+ and won’t be released in cinemas) but the books are widely read and, annoyingly, Artemis Fowl is a boy.

I like the suggestion of Diana. If the lunar connection is important to you then I’d also add Selene or Selina.

To those of you that seem to think of this name as pretentious and some have gone as far as to say it's awful, why? Is it because it is foreign and somehow not white English? You do understand that it's a valid name from another country right?
