Girls name that can't be obviously shortened

Due baby 2 in November and looking for girls names that can't be automatically shortened, although fully aware they'll still probably end up with a nickname! We have a little boy called Henry already.
So far we like Erin and Verity.

Thanks for any suggestions!

Keira can easily become Kee- Kia Kee-Kee.

Things that cannot be shortened tend to either get elongated or literally cut down to a letter (e.g Eee for Eve). People always find a way to change a name

I have a name that has various shortened versions and I really don't mind. I have quite accidently managed to give my own children names that are really difficult to shorten with the exception if my eldest son. My youngest Martha doesn't her name shortened or lengthened, maybe her friends just aren't trying hard enough? I have a Theo too that's tricky to alter too!

Wow! Just checked back to see if I had any responses, I'll have a read through now, thank you so much!
And I'll say again, I do know that all names will end up with some kind of nickname, just like the idea of a name that stays as chosen...even if the nickname is something totally unrelated!

My parents chose my and my brothers names so that they couldn’t be shortened.
We both got called our surname at school!!!!

Amzam · 02/08/2020 10:09

Name changed to say. . . Also an Amy! Once in a blue moon to people try shortening it. They get a 🤨 as it’s not exactly hard to say and quickly go back to the full name.

Iwalkinmyclothing · 02/08/2020 10:13

Names that can't be shortened seem to get lengthened IME!

My eldest is called Nancy. No shortening that. Although there was a phase of nursery staff calling her 'Nance' I mean wtf is that? It's a 2 syllable name as it is.

Goyle · 02/08/2020 10:45

Grace?

daisypond · 02/08/2020 10:47

Nancy is shortened to Nan traditionally. As Nancy is a form of Ann, it also can go back to its original, “long” name, even though it’s shorter, and be Ann again.

My mum named me Laura for this exact reason and I've never had it shortened, or been called anything other than Laura (until I moved to Aus and got Lolly!)

Zhampagne · 02/08/2020 12:44

So many of you would hate my extended family. They can make a nickname out of absolutely anything. If your name is too short they will make it longer or use your surname.

Amy can be Ames.
Nancy can be Nance or Cee.
Laura can be Lau (homophone of Law).

Sometimes the nn is no shorter than the original name - Henry as Henners, Helen as Helly etc.

It's all done with affection. Fair enough to have a preference once you are old enough to know how you want to be addressed but it is a bit of a weird thing to try and pre-emptively control for your child.
